Reinstalling stock .apk

Hi!

I recently wrecked my phone's media capabilities by accidentally deleting MediaProvider with Titanium Backup. Fortunately, a friend of mine has the same version of Android as I do (2.2.2), so I copied MediaProvider.apk and .odex from there and put them back on my phone. I expected things to work now, but well, they don't. Do I have to take any steps to ensure that the apk is seen / loaded? Or do files from a HTC phone conflict with those on my Motorola? (AFAIK, only the kernel is customized to fit each phone, isn't it?)

Thanks for any advice,
Pikaro

They can do, due to differences in the framework files used for the UI.

The best place to ask would be the All-Things-Root sub-forum for your device, as there's a good chance that somebody reading that section would know the answer. If you can confirm your device I'll be happy to move this over to the appropriate section.
