Release date ? (BBY Xoom page active as of 2/20)

The WHOLE point of pre order means your guaranteed one. Unless these bastards take as many pre-orders as they get even if it surpasses what they are receiving on initial launch. Then it means pre-orders will be filled as they come in so first come first serve. At $800 bucks I don't see BB, and Verizon selling out. So I wouldn't pre-order and tie your money up with BB.
 
Ok so at MWC Moto announced that the Wi-Fi only version would sell for around $600, but no release information for either model. What the hell Motorola?!?! MWC was like my last hope for any kind of official announcement on both price AND availability. I am glad that the removal of the 3g/4g radio was worth about $200 but so far the only thing we have is a rough date of "sometime in March". The only reason I can see delaying the Wi-Fi only version is to offload all the $800 models to the extremely anxious and then put out the cheaper version to burn up inventory. Good business plan, bad customer relations. I give you a C- motorola, for lack of information and greed!
 
LOL only us early adopters and geeks know this much about the Xoom. the conventional public does not. some will hear about this tab in the Sunday paper whereas we have heard about it all along.. thats the price to pay for being "in the know" so early about these techno whiz bang gadgets... :D

Verizon employees have complained to me in the past how Verizon is moving towards bulk sales in retails outlets like BB vs Verizon stores. They feel their commissions are being cut due to loss of sales.

The funny thing is that a friend of mine from college (who lives 600 miles from me now) text messaged me about the XOOM earlier this week. He saw the Super Bowl ad, and then saw a full page ad in a magazine. He is so far from an early-adopter or tech guy, it's not even funny. I had never mentioned the XOOM to him. He went to the Motorola XOOM website from the magazine ad, then text messaged me to see if I had heard about it. :rolleyes:
 
I went to my local VZ Corp store yesterday, and they were giving the usual we don't know nothing speel.... She of course took my name and number and said that she would let me know if they heard anything. The manager, who I have dealt with numerous times, said some interesting and weird things and then vanished. He said they did not know of the release date or pricing. I said well Moto's CEO said it was 799. He said it could be or it could be lower... was kinda cryptic about it. I am sure it is nothing but I am hoping it may be 699 at VZ this coming Thursday.
 
your friend is highly intelligent! he went straight to the techno-whiz-bang early adpoter friend to get the scoop... :D

I can almost smell that new xoom scent!! I just want to go to sleep and wake up on release day cause all this waiting is killing me. I honestly have not awaited anything this much since christmas when I was six! The worst thing is, one of the biggest plans I have for it is to video chat with my brother..... a mile down the street!!! I know it's stupid but he's had that Galaxy tab for over a month now and I'm freaking jealous!!
 
Wow, marctronixx is a very thankful person!

I didn't know that the release date had been set. I noticed on the 'dummy' units that had been sent to BB the date on the screen was the 28th (monday the 28th at that). I hope the 24th is right.
 
If I had my guess, the wifi only won't be out for a few weeks. Otherwise the $800 models might have trouble selling.
 
Eh? How you pre order from verizon when they arent even confirming a ship date? They also dont have any new info on there website. Pics or it didnt happen yo :p
