Release date before April 17th?

So reading into things I am thinking the Nexus S 4G will be released before 4/17. Sprint annouced that through 4/17 there will be no mail in rebates. And if you look on the Sprint Nexus S 4G site it mentions $199 after instant discount. So unless they extend the instant discount, I do not see how it could be released after 4/17.

If you read the fine print on the sprint.com/nexus site, you'll see that the rebate expires on June 4, 2011.

I would assume we're a month or so away.

You know I read that before and then forgot about it. Soon at any rate I would believe.

Old man has been there forever and I was talking to him about my crappy options for an updated device(walk around with a xoom and mobile hotspot for 4g/3g!, wait till summer, nexus s) to replace my evo. He said two weeks on the nexus s 4g. I bought the xoom but I'm going for nexus!

the Kyocera Echo is being released on 4/17 - maybe sprint will not want the two releases on top of one another??

True, but the Echo just went on presale yesterday, a little over a week after the S went on presale. So, maybe April 10th, a week before the Echo comes out? Doesn't seem too far fetched.

question - how far in advance is the release date usually announced?

I don't know, but usually it's when the company feels like it. Like the original Nexus S started to be sold a few days after it was announced.

I've also thought about it, and I have come to a conclusion that the release date will be fairly soon. I mean, would Sprint really make people wait like two months for their pre-ordered phones to come out?

Dont be surprised if they do...just ask everyone who pre-ordered the thunderbolt!

Actually, I think it will come out on the 24 of April. I think the 18th is training for it. Very soon I think we can look forward to it. I will have this for my craving of Pureness and the SGSII as my main device (whenever that comes to the US. Sprint for me). I am thinking of holding out though.. because the N1 came out Jan 2010 and the NS came out Dec 2010. Same year but almost a year for the next one. Maybe this fall or winter another Nexus may come and this NS4G may have been the door to future Nexus phones to come to Sprint or CDMA all together. Yea, the NS4G is new to Sprint, but in reality the phone itself is not. I just hope Google Pushes them to all carriers at the same time or week apart at the most for now on. Have a pure ex. on all carriers would be really nice. They just might now, since the story about them becoming more strict about skins was revealed. Either way I will have a dual core phone and a pure phone on sprint.. Hopefully the next Google phone will be dual. I'm sure it will be.

The Nexus S 4G has been upgraded to soon on Bestbuy.com. The estimated shipping arrival date is 5/1 - 5/6.

I am not sure if this is an error, but it also gives me the option to add on the extra $10 "3g-4g" fee. I declined it and was still able to proceed to checkout.

Bestbuy.com was showing availability as early as tomorrow with express delivery a few minutes ago. It appears they have been updating the site so its constantly fluctuating.

Now, I can't even add it to my cart. But I would expect it any day now.

Saw this in another forum:

While I was in my stores backroom today, my manager showed me a holding claw for a phone display, and me being curious asked what it was for. He said it was for the Nexus S 4G, and also told me that they only send claws when they are close to releasing the device.

bestbuy.com now allows you to buy a Nexus S 4G. I am not sure when it would arrive, but you can order online w/free shipping.

I went all the way up to the "check out " button - still undecided about Evo 3D

I get the impression that Sprint will want to give the Echo plenty of breathing room before dropping the big name guns.

Early May I say for the Nexus S 4G.
