Release Date?

I've been watching all the YouTube videos and the Motorola reps keep repeating Q1 which makes me very nervous. Not one mention of "in the coming weeks" like we heard in the announcement. Please I pray this will come out in January. What a strong way it would be for at&t to kick of 2011. I think it will come soon also to combat the vzw iPhone release. At least I hope so.

If they dropped this sucker now...

It would definitely be a good incentive for people to ask "what iphone? who is verizon?"

Yep its pretty funny really. Vzw will get the old iPhone 4, then in 5 months or so at&t will already have the iPhone 5 and vzw customers wll be stuck with the old iPhone lol.

And the Atrix is sooooooo much nicer than the crappy droid bionic vzw is getting. Those oversized evo type phones are just ridiculous. Plus it dosent look anywhere as stylish as the Atrix.

There is no real way of telling what is going to happen.

People seem to be forgetting that apple usually makes one yearly conference and releases all of their devices then.

Odds are (this seems smart to me at least).. They will announce IP for verizon soon.

Then verizon will get the new one be it IP5 or IP4GS.

I think people are too anxious to jump on the "5" when they did have a 3g.. then 3gs.

And it makes sense too.. the current IP4 is 800 mhz..

So for ip4gs they could just scale it up to 1ghz :/

Put them both on at&t and verizon.

Minimal work.. but, maximum return.

People don't care about iPhones specs.. all they care about is whats fashionable.

I wouldn't make the assumption that Verizon will get an outdated phone.. that would just look back..

I doubt verizon would really accept that kind of deal. I know steve jobs plays hardball.. but, I don't think he would want to screw up finally getting off of at&t's network and being there alone.
 
Im pretty sure the vzw iPhone is finally coming out in the next month or so. I'd bet it will either be the iP4 or some gimmicky slight upgrade like the 3gs was to the 3g. Curious where u heard the iP4 is only running 800mhz? I've heard people say they think it runs at 1ghz but there is no way of actualy telling. Either way Spec wise it will be knowhere near the Atrix.

Lol.. thats because people don't pay attention to details..

I've heard it stated a number of times... I thought I even saw it on the apple website.. but, the fact that I don't see it there now makes me wonder..

Doing some reading, I am seeing that all previous models of IP4 have been underclocked.. so hard to tell... Let me check anandtech's reviews and see if I can find it somewhere over there.

just because it uses a processor that has 1 ghz in the ipad doesn't mean they would keep it at 1ghz in the iphone though..

Just because its a 1ghz processor doesn't mean it runs at 1ghz.
 
I could be wrong.. But, I really do not believe that they would have shown an add on tv today and not have it come out either by end of jan or at least early early feb.

Then again we could see adds for 3 months to drum up lots of hype.
 
I'd feel better if at least we could pre-order it. :) I know I pre-ordered the Captivate weeks before it was available.

Nah AT&T wants this phone out asap. They know they have a monster
 
I'd say the phone will be available first. It might take some time to ship the accessory docks, etc.
A good clue would be to visit AT&T stores and ask if they are getting ATRIX screen protectors or cases in yet.

Last Night I went to an AT&T store and was told they see a March 1st date in the computer now.( I asked them to look on the "secret pages that I see blurry pics of online" because I really want one!) I was so hoping for the end of this month. I asked if I could pre order it now, but they told me to sign up on their page (which I already had done) and I should get notified for any pre order. I asked if 3/1 was the date I actually could come in and buy one in the store and they said yes, from what they saw, but it could still change. Anybody else go into a store and get a different answer?

No but I will say this. If that's the date its an epic fail of a launch. Two I don't believe a thing store reps say

The stores don't know anything. They barely know how to sell things. They just know how to (barely) work their Point of Sale system and that's their job.

Regarding a release date, it could be then or it could be more soon. My bet is that I will have an early early February release.
 
Now that this whole iPhone4 on Verizon business is over with, AT&T needs to come right out with the release date on the Atrix. The ultimate retaliation punch.

Replace all those Verizon news stories at the top of the tech sites with "AT&T reveals Atrix release date!"

I fully agree; that Verizon announcement was for 6 month old hardware. AT&T needs to blitz on releasing the Atrix and make sure everyone knows that this phone is the future.
