[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

I don't care if he has 34K posts and is a super , super mod.
If you post BS and swear it's the truth , you have to own up sooner or later.
I am not saying he is lying , just saying I will believe it when I call in my order Monday morning and the lady takes my order.

Actually, the way I see some people talking here and over there leads me to think Verizon has issued the press release already to news sites and they're still under embargo to not talk about it until they get the OK from corp.

Didn't you ever wonder how a press release gets posted on a company's web site and it's all over the internet within a matter of seconds? The internet is fast, but it's not that fast.

Official Press releases usually go out via wire service. But regardless, news spreads quickly. Yes, sometimes it's like flipping a switch. Hence why a concert can sell out in a matter of minutes.

EDIT: Not to mention other media outlets that have an interest in this have their "sources" and "F5" buttons as well.

You can be skeptical. I imagine a lot of people are. I'm giving you the best possible information I can get, and I can't reveal sources.

I actually have some other information but I was asked to hold back on that. So for right now all I can say is that it will be announced today and it will be on 3/10

Have you ever read a wire? They're almost always immediately proceeded with any publication restrictions or tagged for immediate release.

Yeah I have read one, actually several. I work closely with the PR team here at work. And you are right, they are either have restrictions or are for immediate release. Either way, wasn't trying to say you're wrong, but I could see how you could take my reply that way.

You could be completely right, but I still attest that "news" can spread that quickly. We are an instant gratification society with our texts, IMs, tweets, emails, phone calls, video chats, etc.

Ok, I get you. Yes, I agree with that. There are top level news outlets that have the wire and then what you're speaking of is more like the secondary distribution. The time between the two is much shorter now for sure, but there is a reason some websites have well written copy immediately upon release and others just look like C&Ps of the press release or other websites.

hookbill seems to be a good guy. but this would not be the first time vzw has changed the announcement date if we don't get it today.

Time for a good laugh. Thanks to ASLgeek for this quote on AndroidCental on what is the first thing you will do on your TB...

"Turn it on and I don't mean power it up...fondle it...spank it...tell it how much of a dirty cheap $649 slut it is and how dare it keep me waiting...then maybe I'll bring it flowers in the morning"

This is too funny and makes me scared at the same time. :O

anyone have a link to the post that indicates Ben is a verified VZ employee? Not that I even trust a VZ employee at this stage in the game.

Can anyone explain who this Bennnn person is and who this Jerrrrry person is?

well if I'm not mistaken they are famous for homemade ice cream...

But seriously, has Bennnnnnnn (enough n's?) said anything today since he was the one who claimed the announcement would be today?

I think I actually saw his endorsement skimming the other forum when so indicated in our thread - but for the life of me, my history's so deep, I can't pull it up.

It all comes down to faith anyway - there is no equivalent to provenance for these claims.

An admin or mod or trusted user in a competing but established forum makes a statement of faith based on personal knowledge - the idea is that validation occurs by association. Realistically, we don't and can't know the actual level of information exchanged or verified about a person's background under that practice.

All of which is bizarre and quite foreign to me and our way of doing things.

I have first-hand relationships with some sources for Phandroid, some who go directly, some who go only through me to vet their info before passing upstairs. If one of them were to ever state an opinion in the forum as a user, you couldn't get their bona fides out of me with a judo expert with a machine gun: real-life jobs are on the line. (*Note below)

So - you can follow a chain of posts on Bennnnn or whomever, but ultimately, you'll hit the wall.

So - maybe Bennnnn is for real, or maybe he's an elaborate hoaxer. Evidently, something about his track record says he's real - but ultimately there's a wall of anonymity there.

But - when a competing but established forum indicates someone's a troll - that I believe.

And - even for people who have good cred as being for-real -- always remember that in corporate America, things change. Face it - haven't we ALL worked for screwy management?

So, if something doesn't pan out, it doesn't mean they were trolling or feeding flames - inside info is often correct, but never 100%, by definition.

Don't know if that helps or even explains anything - feedback to me if I didn't make sense here, TIA.

(*) Note - When the Android Forums insiders do come out and reveal corporate info, they tend to swing for the fence - I've seen posts around here with corporate PowerPoint slides, attendance lists of management, the whole enchilada. N.B., I'm not bragging on our forum as I did before - just stating plainly our cultural differences here.

So, bottom line, your guess is as good as mine if Bennnnn is for real, but I'm going to go with the flow on this one and see what pans out.

Mostly though - I expect the real insider info to go to one of the insider's favored direct channel first, that being Phandroid, Engadget or maybe a few others. All of the news aggregators are repeaters, but most are repeaters only.

My director just left his meeting and has a little info on the subject.

Apparently, as we speak, they are building stock of Thunderbolts in warehouses across the country, and until Verizon is given the green light where they feel they have enough supply to meet the demand of the customers, THEN they will announce this device and give us a concrete launch date. We are also trying to push our last Droids ($100 discount) into consumers hands before the launch of this revolutionary device. I was told we are VERY close to being 100% ready for launch, and it seems that all that is truly left to do is finish up stockpiling devices and then the announce the HTC Thunderbolt! We should hear something ANY day now, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we heard something tomorrow since there was a scheduled announcement today which they missed. Anyways, we are very close guys. The Thunderbolt is coming, and it's lightning fast 4G LTE speeds are going to be in your hands VERY soon. Rule the air.

EDIT: Also to clarify again, I am NOT affiliated with Jerrryyyyyy. We DO NOT work together, nor do we know each other.

Okay guys, I'm headed back home, so I'll be on later tonight to answer questions after dinner.

Hope you all are as excited as I am for this phone! I just can't get over how fast it is. Dual core? Pfftt. The Qualcomm MSM8655 + 4G LTE network is where its at!

Why does this say that the TB is already out?

List of Events | Verizon Insider

Yep - that's the question today, indeed - interesting comment from other thread:

anyone check out Verizon's list of events lately??

it doesn't have a date or time for the event, and i cannot confirm exactly when it was posted but i do know that "Thunderbolt by HTC" was not listed there monday when i checked.

why would they have the Thunderbolt listed under the events section if nothing was planned for the near future??
