Reminder/Notification apps: Which one?

Hello Phandroid Peeps! :)

Let me preface this by saying that I hardly ever use Evernote, so when Google Keep came out, I figured that I wouldn't use it very often and I was right, I hardly touch Keep. I don't always keep an active list of things, such as "stop at Walmart and get milk and cereal"

I know Google Now has a new reminder feature "Remind me to get milk at Walmart this afternoon.", but that just "dings" at you and you (1) had to hear the ding and (2) have to check to see why the phone "dinged". I want something like Notif that will stick a reminder in the notification shade. There are several apps that do this.

If Google Keep placed a notification in the shade, I would just do that and if Keep ever comes out with such a feature, then I don't see why I would have a need for any of the above apps.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Thank you :)

Yeah id like a way for google Now to give a proper notification in Notification Panel. I use Light Flow Pro and that lets you customise the Now reminder notifications sound and LED so i have it set to flash the LED at a particular speed and colour so i know what it means

It means that you can't swipe it away.

Chan, thank you for the info about Astrid. I don't know if I really need a "Task List". I have AnyDo and I don't use it. I just want something to remind me on occasion.

Example: Today, I need to stop by the credit union on my way home. Sure, I could do a reminder in Google Now, but if I had something in the Notification Shade, then I would see it *** every time *** I look in the shade.

Why not just do a calendar/agenda widget then?

Then I have to look at the widget. :)

I have a widget for Keep, but it does not reside on my main home screen. If it were on the Notification Shade, I would see it every time I look at the shade.

Well I'm not really sure what you are asking for anymore. You want a reminder on the notification shade, but you don't want to get a "task app" that puts a reminder on the shade like you want to. Both Astrid and Any.Do does that.

Going by your example, you can put in Astrid or Any.Do to alert you a few hrs before your going home time to pass by the credit union. It would appear on your notification shade every time you pull it down. Any.Do is even better in this regard since it stays in your notification bar even when you have no overdue tasks:

Okay. Thank you. That just goes to show how often I actually have a need for that function, because I was unaware that AnyDo had that capability.

I was just looking for something simple. Notif Pro has the ability for me to just use Google Now and say "Note to self: Visit credit union on the way home" and then have the reminder in the shade.

Not sure this is on topic but I use Outlook's calendar on my PC with App Sync to populate my Google Calendar, and Jorte on my Galaxy S4. Reminders aren't a problem -- in fact I get so many reminders I need a way to change the snooze setting. But if you need something that constantly badgers the crap out of you, there you go.

Um, on a side note, anyone know how to change the snooze settings so the reminder(s) doesn't constantly appear on the Galaxy/Android?

I use Any.do -- it has persistent notifications in the shade and notifications that pop up that can be snoozed (15 minutes, one hour, three hours, or tomorrow), plus a widget.
