As a teacher, I work in a few classrooms. Each one has a different brand/model of projector, and usually the remote controls are lost or broken. Is there anyway to use an andoid phone/tablet to function as an r/c? I have a moto me 501 now with 2.3 on it, and bt and wifi. I am shopping now for a tablet.

Wow! That looks very useful...but I am talking about actually turning the projector on and off with the remote. As far as I know (and I might be wrong) I cannot do that from my pc....or can I?

Some projectors do that. But it's likely that your classrooms don't have the most modern gear.

One way to do it would be with gear like Logitech's Harmony Link. You would need your smartphone or tablet, the Harmony Link (or other similar device, $100 ), and an inexpensive wireless router ($30). But that is cumbersome... at that point you might as well simply purchase your own universal remote control ($30 or so) and carry it with you.
