Remote Control my phone

That sounds like the business plan for the underpants gnomes lol

Just to be difficult, I want to control one android device with another. I've got a cheap tablet connected to my stereo and I want to be able to queue up music and even YT tunes using my android phone from elsewhere using wifi. I've been using remote droid for 18 months so I know how surprisingly good remote control is over wifi/ethernet. Anyone got any ideas? If you can think of a different way to achieve the same outcome please don't be shy. I just want to control the stereo remotely and I've got two android devices (and a netbook, if necessary). Thanks John

Webkey is the bomb! I'm pretty impressed with the tools provided by this app. Basically you install it on your phone, start the service. Then on any computer, open a browser and go to the IP address of the phone. From there you have a full display of your phone, a bash terminal, list of calls made and durations, contacts, exporting. So on.. I am really recommending this..

You can probe DroidMote Server and Client

You can find this in android market

Hi,

I've seen I think one million threads for apps available to turn your Android phone in to a remote control for your PC, but nothing that goes the other way. I've just come from several years of Windows Mobiling and I've always had access to several apps that will allow me to control my phone from my PC.

Does such a thing exist for Android yet - or is it possible using the SDK?

If you mod your PC into a Hackintosh you could run Chicken of the VNC to control your phone remotely...

:D

This looks like Webkey should be a great "find your phone" app! You can remotely turn on GPS and get location... Remotely lock the phone... I just downloaded it, haven't tried it yet, but looks great!

Um, there is no need to run a different OS, VNC is an open protocol and there are clients and servers for just about everything. CotVNC is a nice client, but it's not nice enough to warrant making a hackintosh, just use TightVNC (Free) from Windows or Linux.

And the above is even assuming that we can get a VNC server running on Android. This is the best case scenario, but it looks like we can't for now. You may be thinking of controlling an iOS device through Veency.

I would like a remote support type application on Android. I'm tech support for my mother's phone, and if I could remote in that'd be pretty nice. Unfortunately, my go to solutions aren't on Android (Teamviewer and VNC) so I'm going to try these ones. Thank you for the various links.

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and I am trying to remote access my phone through my PC. I've tried several different servers on my phone and several different viewers on my PC. They all work great expect no matter what I do I also get this washed out red color on the viewer screen. Does any have a suggestion? I've tried Droid vnc server, webkey, tightvnc, realvnc, etc. and i still get the washed out red screen on the viewer on my PC, on my phone the color seems to be normal. I'm thinking it might be a setting within the phone. HELP PLEASE!

I'm using Samsung Galaxy Y, and I'm using Unified Remote FULL Version. It all works, from Mouse & Keyboard to Controlling Presentations to even shutting down your PC/Laptop. Requires either Wi-Fi or BT.

Webkey is still the winner for me. I only started using it yesterday, there is a XDA thread on it started by the dev and since it's opensource he takens suggestions for improvements and what not. That and you can edit it yourself if you know how to code and want something that they don't have.

Took me a while to log in and sort it all out but it worked in the end and i got a full display working and everything. Access to everything on my phone. I mainly want to use it if my phone was stolen so i checked to see what i could do. I managed to turn on the GPS and open google maps - zoom in and see exactly where my phone was. A bit laggy but that's expected.

One thing to point out, most networks in the UK block incoming 3G connections so it is best to use the webkey website which means it works like a charm.

Hey thanks this is getting close to what im after.

Do you know why the screen is all a washed out red colour?

use Logmein
search (lamontep21) on youtube
links and DOWNLOADs are in the description

LogMeIn is good, but only supports remote control on certain, limited devices as i found out recently when considering it for corp use (supporting our users).

LogMeIn Rescue has been pre-deployed on the devices below, allowing full remote control and support out of the box. Please contact your LogMeIn sales representative for additional information on how to utilize LogMeIn Rescue on these devices.

I find Airdroid (works w/ PC or Mac) the best for non-rooted phones.

It can replace the samsung keis program.

Has a nice visual desktop on the PC too.

You know it's funny .. I've seen a lot of people want PC control over their phone to handle SMS (and in the end - that was ALL they cared about).

The answer of course is Google Voice. Full web access to you SMS, voicemail, etc. without any app.

is there any type of remote controlls similar to say the boxee box remote that would work with android.

I am contemplating taking an xperia arc and making a little dock behind my wall mounted tv and then connecting my phone through hdmi and essentially make an android powered smart tv.

I am guessing it would have to be bluetooth. Perhaps a mini keyboard with a little trackpad type thing on it.

Would it be possible to have an app on one smartphone that would allow me to controll another smartphone. The same way all these various apps that allow you to use your smartphone as a remote for your pc. For example gmote. Same idea but for phone to phone.

Webkey is the best app out there that I have used so far. It allows me to see my phone screen and interact with it the same way as if I was holding it. Everything i can do with my phone I can now do within the web browser. I'm using it via Wifi and it works great. Also using my Samsung Gio as a wifi dongle tethered to my laptop to access my home wifi network. Everything is working fine so far, my only complaint is that the screen I see in my browser is a washed out red colour. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this? I've tried webkey on an XP laptop and a Win7, mozilla and chrome. Always get the red screen. Must be a problem with my specific phone interacting with webkey...

My dad is going on a road trip. He's elderly and I'd like to give him a droid1 that I'm not using. But I don't want him having to figure out how to use the features. I'd just like to be able to turn on the navigation for him and enter his next destination, etc... maybe find him hotels etc... He's almost 80 but he likes to take off driving every once in a while. I'd like to keep tabs on him.

Any ideas? I'm not an expert, but I do manage to root phones and upload mods and such. I'd like something generally easy.

Hi, Simon211175! Try using Roku Remote. It's a very well-done remote, front to back, that can control multiple Roku boxes with all the features of the real remote. You can skin the remote for a nice background, access the info screen and the quick 30-seconds-back button, and add a widget to your home screen. That last feature allows for a really killer setup—make one of your home screen panels devote to the widget, and you've got a remote with just a swipe of the finger.

Hi Guys ,

anyone knows an application that works on a non-rooted phones as a remote control like webkey , but with the condition that its server starts automatically after installing it and restarting the phone.

I need it urgently , as my phone is locked and i want to access it remotely to remove the password.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to find a solution that will work for you. With apps like Webkey, you still need to unlock the phone. So the first screen you get when you connect to a locked phone will be the password/pin/pattern unlock screen.

Have you tried this app. Unfortunately, it doesn't remove the password, it only bypasses it. I think you may have to reset the phone to fix the issue permanently.

Apparently if you enter the code 5 times incorrectly, you will get an option to reset the code with your Google account credentials. So that's worth giving a try first. Source.

Thanks Akamad , but I'm not using pattern. I'm using numeric password , and it is not giving the option to reset it after 5 times. Also , I tried the Screen Lock Bypass tool but it didn't work for me.

I found it. SamsungDive can do it, you can lock the phone with pin code remotely, and unlock it with this pin code on the phone.
