Hi all
Just wondered if anyone had used Teamviewer app, im after a free app that will allow me access to my pc, including being able to shutdown my pc when it has finished doing certain tasks.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Pete ;)

Not used that, but I have used AndroidVNC, along with RealVNC server on the PC - it works nicely.

Ah. Must admit, I've not used it recenly (since I upgraded to Win7).
What version do you have? Win7 Pro allows you to run an app in Windows XP mode.

Well, how about this:

TightVNC is very popular in Linux world.

Thanks for the comments all, will take a look at the options, teamviewer does say that you can remotley reboot the pc but niot sure if you would be able to log back, guess there is only one way to find out :-)

can you reboot computer and then connect with it if you have a login user password on startup on win 7?

I can remotely restart my pc and upon reboot I get to the user account page. None of my family's accounts are passworded so I just click on my icon and voila!

Sorry people just one more question, if im away from my house and im using my works wifi signal, can i still remotely connect to my pc or does it only work on my home network?
Thanks

You can connect from anywhere in the world.

I usually connect to my pc while 5 miles away at work using my standard mobile phone internet connection which is actually capped around 367kpbs.

I take it back.
How's that work then?

No idea but the guys at work were very impressed as we watched my missus typing into the web browser.

When I showed another guy at work later, my PC was showing MSPaint open on the Desktop with the following words:

Dad, stop being weird you loser.

My daughter sussed me out and left me that message so I actually altered it (remotely) and made it read,

You brats are the losers.;)

Great stuff.

You can do it ;) team viewer is the best by far always works very smoothly
Are you sure? We are talking here about a remote PC with a user account that requires a login password. Rebooting such a PC requires someone to input the account password to login back to Windows. If there is nobody at the other end, I'd say you are stuck.

You have to input an ID number on your PC once installed then pair that up with your phone plus a password. See below for proof...;)

Wait, you didn't have to do any firewall config or anything? It just let's you login outside of your LAN?

I've tested this again just to be sure.
You can reboot and access the other PC only if you have it setup with an unattended access and if you know the login password. That pretty much is the case for your own PC.
For others PCs you still need them to login after you reboot their PC remotely.
