Help remove all except gmail and phone "people" links

Can someone explain how I continue to interact with Facebook(tm) or Twitter(tm) or LinkedIn(tm) without "link-ing" or "sync-ing" all over
my people lists?

For example, I have a pic for my son-in-law. I don't want his latest
Facebook or Twitter pic to appear for new calls or messages or call favorites or any of that. However, I still want to interact with his (and other) Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn.

Also, I don't want the periodic "matching people found" notification that then ties my address book to all sorts of folks using rules that I don't control.

Can anyone help with this?

The matching notification that pops up I believe asks to confirm the match or dismiss it. If you dismissed it then it won't link the contacts to their facebook or twitter. But then when you go into your contact list you will see a separate listing for each thing a person has like your son in law phone then his facebook and whatever else he has. To remove the facebook from this list just tap menu then view and it will let you choose what items you want to be displayed in the contact list.

For anything that was linked you can go into that contact and in the upper right hand corner tap the blue link icon and I list of what it is linked to will show just tap to unlink. Then when you are back in your contact list you can change your contact pictures to whatever you want. The pictures can only be changed on profiles saved to the phone not a sim contact.

I sometimes get a matched notification reminder ever few days to maybe once a week but I just hit dismiss.

Not sure if that helped at all.

now that I have a bunch of such links, is my only choice to un-link one at the time?

Is there no way to say, "unlink all Twitter" or similar?

Easiest way is from your list tap menu-more-linked contacts.
This will show a list of what contacts are linked and to what. So then just scroll thru the list and unlink all and then save. This will save you the trouble of going into each contact to unlink.

I really don't want Facebook and Twitter &c links. If I remove these, after a while, I get the pop up saying, "links found."

I think this is HTC Sense doing things for me that I don't yet understand.
(I'm told that HTC Sense is a good thing, but I'm dashed if I can figure out
how to get all that value.)

I know there are a minimum of three(3) lists of name+number details.
1. SIM card
2. the phone
3. Google

I already have an address book mess left over from when I moved from win-dose mobile to android in the first place. Sigh.
