Remove bloatware from milestone?

I'm now rooted and triyng to remove motonav, and I just don't know how exatcly I must type in command in terminal emulator.Has anyone used terminal emulator before??

Just use a file explorer like Astro File manager and go to system/app and delete (or move) motonav os it is not there.

After that reboot your phone go to Settings>Applications>Manage applications>Menu>Filter>All.

Find Motonav and go into it and uninstall it (provided that it is still showing there at all).

I found the Motonav in system/app,and now I can just delete it or if I click "open app manager",I can uninstall it.

When I try to delete .apk files of motonav it sais: Error deleting files.

That's because it's set to read only and you need to set the permissions. I use rootexplorer for that which is a simple click at the top right hand side.

Ok,now I have installed the root explorer and I just deleted the motonav.apk file from system/app.I can no longer see it anywhere(in my main menu or at manage apps).
Is this normal?

100% normal.

When I tried to install IGO after removing motonav it still said that it will replace it.Then I deleted the com.navngo.igo.Javaclient. from app management. I noticed that I got some free space on my mobile storage and then I was able to install IGO.

I used Titanium Backup Pro to uninstall/delete a few unwanted apps and it worked flawless. A great feature with Titanium is that you can also freeze apps. Freezing them basicly makes them invisible without completely removing them incase you want them back at some point in the future. I froze the stock music player since I use btunes. The stock player kept starting up when I would hit play on my Bluetooth now it cant. I can unfreeze it in the future if I decide I want it back. You must be rooted to use titanium.

Nice I have this but have not tried it. I have heard good things about it as well so just one more thing to add. I think I will be giving this one a test run very soon! :D

Can someone give me a download link for Titanium Backup Pro (trial or something),cause I live in a country in which you can't get those Paid apps.

I can also get a usual Titanium Backup (no Pro) for free on market,If this one is good, too, but it said that I need some busybox.

OK!,now I'm using the Titanium backup pro and that app is awsome!
That "Freeze" option is what I have always needed, cause I have some "Google Talk" and "Corporate Calendar" apps, that are useless to me,but I may need them in the the future,so I didn't completely Uninstall them,I just freezed them.

I think I don't need "Root explorer" anyomore,but I'll keep it anyway...

I tried all this. And I still not able to remove apps. (due to read only permissions) is there truly another way to get these removed with astro file only?

When you go to the system/apps folder you have to change permissions to either tyhe whole folder or just the file you want to remove so that the file is not read only.

Why not remove them completely if you do not use them? With root explorer it is 5 minutes of work to do that.

Silly question, but how?

I just installed Astro and could not find that option either! It did not even ask for root permissions! I used to use it and it worked then.

Get another file manager like root explorer or anything that will ask for root permissions.

lol. Thought I was going nuts. Got root explorer now. All good. Thanks for the help anyways.

I could completely remove them, but I think this is less than 5 minutes of work with root explorer(if I just delete the .apk files from system app and remove some leftovers from app managment).

Not really getting what you're saying.

Basically he means to just remove it with root explorer by deleting the main APK file (which will remove it from the app drawer) and clean up the leftovers that is left behind in the other directories which is how I do it usually when things do not uninstall...

I was just wondering how that was different from what has already been said in the thread.

Wait a second. Are you saying that if I do it that way (delete the .apk from system/app and then uninstall the leftovers from app managment),
then the app isn't completely removed? or is it?

It surely is.

I tend to disagree with that because yes the app itself is removed but some of the apps use other things in the phone which only are need for that one specific app and are not needed anymore. When you try to access some things are tied to that app it errors out. I've had this problem before when removing apps.
