Root Remove icon text when rooted w/out new launcher

Wondering if you can remove text under icons if your phone is rooted without installing a different launcher like ADW? Wanted to keep Sense on if I decide to root because I like the 4G and 3G widgets, plus i find the launchers are buggy and laggy. My main interest is in removing the icon text ( I dunno why, lol, it just really bugs me and looks ugly to me).
