Hello to all! Greetings!
This may (or may not) sound like somewhat of a new twist.
Recently I rooted my phone. Perhaps the primary objective, was to remove all web access from the phone, while maintaining email capabilities. It worked like a charm. I deleted the stock browser, and Flickr, and QuickLookup, etc. and presto! I now had an email-enabled yet web-less phone.
Or so I thought. You see, it turns out that in the stock email app, all you have to do is click on a link in an email, and the email app turns into a handy mini-browser. Not a full-blown browser mind you, but enough that the kids who will invariably get hold of my phone, could easily end up where they shouldn't be. It doesn't take a genius of a kid to figure out how to send himself an email with a link to anywhere. (I know, there are various filters etc., but that's not what I wanted. I wanted it off. Period.).
So here's the challenge. How can the link-following feature of the stock email app be disabled, deleted, demolished, and destroyed?
Alternatively, maybe someone knows of a different email application which doesn't have this link-following feature. Or better yet, that doesn't have the latent capability of turning into a mini-browser at all?
One more hole, I'd like to patch. If you go to the Settings -->About phone -->Legal info --> Google, you'll find that that could also be a mini-mini-browser. I would like to know how to delete that as well.
Thank you, members of the community, for trying to work this out.
