removing apps

Hi all,

I just picked up my S4 and am trying to remove some apps. I am a bit confused.

When I go to the apps manager and click on the app I want to remove, I get a choice of 3 options:

Force Stop
Uninstall Updates
Turn off

I was hoping for a simple "disable" button.

Can some one explain what these three options mean and which one do I select to remove the app.

Thanks

"Disable" is now called "Turn Off".
Uninstall Updates - means it will uninstall updates and revert back to stock app (version). You cannot uninstall majority of apps that came with the phone, only "turn off" (disable).
Force Stop - remove app from phone memory.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Motzartman, I think you're correct, but I would add that force stop would not mean the program might not restart automatically at some point. Also, there's probably little point to disabling a program unless it's causing issues. For example, I disabled the stock music player because after the 4.2 update it sometimes started playing when connecting to bluetooth, rather than the player I wanted, and I never want to use the stock player.

Force Stop --------------> you kill the app that is running. . . more of KILL process in UNIX----->android is UNIX based I believe. . .

Uninstall Updates --------------> you REMOVE the app from being installed on your PHONE

Turn off -------------------> I think this is the TEMPORARY close of app, that can be enabled again. . .
