Root Removing bloatware?

I'm new to the Android World. Is there an app that will uninstall the bloatware (Amazon MP3 for example) that came with the phone? Or am I going to have to root my device in order to remove the useless apps that Sprint installed on it?

Unfortunately, only rooting will get rid of carrier apps.

Welcome to the forums!

I've moved you to the All Things Root forum, where you can get more info on this - strongly suggest checking the sticky threads at the top of this forum for initial info.

The only way to get rid of the Sprint apps is to root. It is painless and easy to do. After rooting, you can flash a custom rom with the bloat removed or use apps like Titanium Backup to freeze the apps. You do have to be careful what apps you remove as some are system dependent and can cause problems with the functionality of the rom or cause it not to work at all. I would suggest reading the Rooting for Dummies stickied at the top and ask questions from there if it does not answer them for you. We are here to help.

Read this thread several times, patience is a virtue. The more you understand the more successful you will be with customizing your phone. Like Xtreme says you're not alone, lots of good peeps here to help. :)

PS: Welcome! :D

Just need to UnrevokeForever then rename /system/app/badapp.apk to .../badapp.apk.bad (for each bad app from HTC, Sprint, and Google). I use Root Explorer to do the renaming, but you could use a command console instead, it's just tedious. Backup before each surgery, of course.
