Root Removing Bloatware

Veregund

Newbie
Hey Guys,

Just got my DC rooted using the "one-click" gingersnap utility. Now how to I gain access to remove the bloatware and other verizon stuff? Thanks!

I thought there was some risk to simply removing apps that are built in to a ROM. In my past message board travels, I heard that once rooted, freezing the apps with Titanium Backup is a safer way to prevent them from eating CPU cycles and battery life. http://androidforums.com/droid-2-support-troubleshooting/179975-how-freeze-apps-titanium-backup.html Otherwise, check out XDA. There's a guy on there who's cleaning up and adding functionality to the stock ROM a little bit at a time. Probably a safer way to go if you want the crap off to free up space.

Great I'll look at XDA. thTanks for the response. Any other ideas?

Personally, I'd want them off altogether, not just frozen, so I could free up space. I think in some cases you can put them back on yourself if the dev removed something in particular you wanted to keep. Given that, I'd go with the custom ROM over freezing.

I agree, but I thought there weren't any custom ROMs out yet for the DC?
