Root Removing SD = Crash?

Ok stupid question.

I've got GV 1.9 now, but my 8 GB SD card is almost full.

If I remove the card and delete everything besides pictures and music, will my device still work? Are there files I shouldn't delete?

Thanks!

You can delete anything on the FAT32 and it will rebuild crucial folders.

If you have an EXT partition, thats different.

So if I can boot my phone without my SD in it, I should be fine? I haven't made an EXT partition, but my apps can all be moved to SD because that's built in GV.

Oh well if you're using the android option to move to sd, you'll have to move them back. I didn't think if you were rooted you'd still be using that method though.

i moved most of them with app2sd. If I install a new one, I just move it via the settings. it's not that big of a hassle.

I just removed my SD card and booted. It worked except the moved apps of course. This means I can delete everything, but I have to install the apps again afterwards right?

Move the apps back to phone first and you wont have to do anything except move them back when you have cleared the card.

In regards to moving them to SD, (your previous post), Thats not really what I meant. Most people root so they get apps2sd+ instead of that method.

I know, but I never really needed it. I never even figured out how it works. might do that know. If I partition my SD card, it has to be empty anyway. I assume the info in your sig is still up to date?

Yes I keep it up to date. One thing though, if you do create an ext partition, this will eat into your free space of the SD card. On the flip side, you wont have any applications on the FAT partition anymore.

But as its an entire partition, you create Maybe 1GB, and maybe fill 300MB, your free space on SD is still 1GB down. At the moment, with your methods, you would only be 300MB down, so perhaps its not the best option for you if internal memory is ok and SD is an issue.

Thanks! I'll consider that. Is it possible to make a partition later without whiping my card?

Gparted wont wipe your card, but I would always recommend backing it up to PC first anyway.

I deleted everything except Tintanium backup and pictures and it worked like a charm. Turns out that updating with Villain setup fills your SD card fast :D
