Help removing the battery cover

So I just got my Moment last night, and I cannot figure out how to remove the SD card. EVERYTHING I have found says it's under the battery (wtf), but I can't get the battery cover off to get to it, and I can't find any instructions on how to remove the battery cover.
 
Easiest way I've found is to press on the speaker "bump" and push upward. You will see the sd card, but you have to remove the battery to access it.
 
Yeah that's not working at all. I know I have to take out the battery to get the card out, but the problem is actually getting TO the battery.
 
Brandy, I used to have the same problem as you, the easiest way I have found is to push at the top of the cover (near the camera) where there is an arrow, push in the direction of the arrow. Make sure you are only pushing the cover not the whole phone. The cover should slide down and you can then remove it.

I used to use the method of pushing up from the speaker, but I nearly snapped the cover in half once so I decided to find an easier safer way, and that is what I found.

By the way, the battery cover is actually the entire back plate of the phone, I know some phones only use a small portion as the battery cover, not this one.... lol
 
Adrift, THANK YOU. I tried this earlier, but I think I was doing it wrong, because it worked this time. I knew the cover was the whole back, I just couldn't figure out the best way to get it off without too much force!

If only the SD card was removable from the outside of the phone (as it should be) we wouldn't have to do this...lol
 
I found it's easy to use your thumbnail, and stick it in the little slit cut out near the speaker. Just pull down from there (assuming your thumbnail is strong enough).

This is what alot of folks say they do, when I try it seems to need alot of force.

Yes, and especially since the process for mounting the phone as an external drive is so convoluted.

Every other phone I've owned, you just plug it in, and windows asks if you want to open the folder.

Now it's harder to just pop out the SD and stick it in a card reader than it is to go though the mounting hassle.
 
RE Adrift ~> Many thanks. All morning I couldn't get that thing unlocked. Pushing down on the arrow (in the direction of the arrow) worked like a charm. THANKS!

I downloaded a Windows driver for the phone, and it now mounts like a drive in Windows. You might try that.

mebbe old news by now, however theres also a market app called mount USB that turns your sdcard into a 'usb drive'

because its mounting the card, the phone cant do anything else until you undock it

Easiest way is just to place the palm of your hand against the entire back cover (cupping a bit around the edges), using friction. Don't need any thumbnails or special technique. :-)
 
I tried all of these (I even remembered to take the extra case off first!) with no success on my Galaxy S until I realized that the little slit near the speaker at the bottom of the phone is actually on the narrow EDGE of the phone, not the flat back part. It popped off so easily, I was embarrassed at how much force I was trying to use. :) Thanks for the help!
