Removing the 'Debrand'

Hi all,

I have been looking around the internet in search of some information regarding the removal of a 'debrand' from a phone storing it to its original state locked to a certain network... (if that makes sence)

Ill explain,

I bought a HTC Desire from eBay locked to T-Mobile while im on Orange.. I remember creating a goldcard for the phone as well as using a website to unlock the phone...

Anyway when I have updated the phone I have come across many problems from the wifi not working to the USB disk drive not appearing.. I had done some research in the past which left me to think that debranding the phone either by the methods said has corrupted my updated firmwares...

So is there a way to restore the phone back to the original settings when the phone was branded to Tmobile??

Hope someone can help because I am ticked off that I cannot update my phone...

Thanks:o

hey there,
yeah sounds like the unlocking has upset something there, couldnt definitly say what. i cant say i've found a definite answer for it, one website suggests re-registering your mobile with the original network via their website.

Flash it with standard htc rom and not a carrier specific one. Otherwise your just putting all the bloatware back on.

Thanks for your reply,

How do I find out what rom version I am on because I believe I have flashed it before with an EU one...

If this rom is different to the one I have will it allow me to update my phone without incurring any problems after the update?

Well you may aswell flash it with 2.29.405.5 as its the latest. It will wipe the data so will be a fresh install. You will need your goldcard.

Talking of which, could you offer some guidance Danfrance please.

I debranded flashing an RUU and as with others am now stuck on 405.2. So I've done this process once before but seem to have forgotten or gone wrong somewhere. When double click to run the .exe RUU file I get an error message on my computer saying;

"...not a valid Win32 application"

The icon differs from that of the original 2.2 I flashed to debrand from Orange so assume I did something to the file to run it....but I don't recall and can't find what I did from the original thread.

Any ideas?

I remember I used HxD to adjust some code?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the download is dodgy. This happens with RUU's from shipped roms.

You still have your goldcard SD card you made with the Hex?

If so we can just get you a different version of the rom. Eddy OS usually posts links to it and I think rastaman too.

If you used my link it came courtesy of Rastamans dropboxand it worked for me. Search for a thread called After yesterdays shenanigans, the original working link will be there.
