Removing the pin lock

Hello, im back to using android after a year of iPhone. I've been a android user since the first moto droid, then various models up to the best phone i ever used the RAZR maxx HD.. switching from Verizon to net 10 then jumping on my girlfriends plan with out a contract i went to iPhone, started with a 4 then a 5 after my girl dropped hers and put a hairline crack in it that she couldn't live with, and no big deal to me.

anyway, for my birthday she got me the M8 after hearing me talk about the M7 for so long. i love the phone, though this is my first time on HTC and android does feel very foreign to me, im starting to get back in touch with the things i remember. one of my RAZR were stolen and i always used a pin afterwards on my phone. i loved the iPhone just hit the pin and it opens right up, after using it for a year switching to the M8 i sat up a pin and it feels more troublesome then what its worth, it feels like im going through 2 lock screen, hitting my 4 digit pin then hitting enter.. im sure i would get use to it, but i cant seem to remove the feature now. i go to the settings and security entering my pin, but the option to remove or whatever, is not select able, ive Google and can only find how to add the pin not remove it. is there a way, right now im using a no lock app but i find my phone on sometimes in my pocket.. i can live with it im sure, its just a minor inconvenience and really the only grip about the phone that i have, its a great piece of hardware and i love it

so if anyone can point me in the right direction id be really grateful

Go into settings, security, Lock screen (pin lock), enter your pin, then select "lock screen (show lock screen but not security screen)" as your option. This should resolve your issue

This is my options list once on that screen

It looks like you have most likely encrypted your SD card, which forces you to have security installed. Go into settings>storage and uncheck phone storage encryption and sd card encryption and see if that resolves your issue.

Pin lock can also be required if you have a VPN setup, exchange server email.

You can also try to clear credentials under security if it is not greyed out. Keep in mind if you are using a VPN or exchange server that requires security this will screw it up!
