Root Removing Three (3) Rom on M8

Hi all

I feel slightly embarrassed asking this but I am desperate to get some help please.

I have a Three (UK) (Unlocked) M8. I want to be able to flash custom roms, like the venom one over on XDA, but I am very confused with all the links for firewater or the htc toolkit and so on.

I have flashed my HTC's in the past, starting the with the desire, but It's been a while and I seem to be a bit rusty.

I understand about command prompts and so on, so once I get all the necessary tutorials in one place, it will be fairly straight forward.

I'm not even sure if my phone can be flashed with a custom rom. Everywhere I look, it always seems to talk about verizon or sprint and so on.

I'm running Windows 8.

Any help would be really appreciated. I am willing to donate to the site or whoever helps me out with this.

Many thanks

Can no one give me a helping hand? I'm desperate to get rid of all this bloatware.

Many thanks

Edit: Okay, I've managed to work out how to unlock and get s-off by following a tutorial on youtube. All I want to know now is, how do I install a custom rom please?

I will be using this file "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.2-m8". So will I be able to put a custom rom on an sd card and install it using this bootloader please?

your best bet for debranding your 3 rom is to flash a custom rom like ARHD wich is based on unbranded european 1.54.401.5.

[ROM] Android Revolution HD 5.0 | ART | High Quality & Performance | Android 4.4.2 KitKat | HTC Sense 6.0 | 1.54.401.5 | Tweaks app - Sense 6 Toolbox Final version is live! | THEMES | Support for all M8 variants - xda-developers

you will download the rom, transfer it to your sd card or internal storage, and then boot to recovery.

*before doing anything make a backup of your stock rom, reboot and transfer the backup to somewhere safe on your pc.

afterward, boot back to recovery again and:
-wide data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
-install the rom
-reboot

a good next step once your rooted and/or running a rooted custom rom,is to achieve s off with firewater. s off will make your life easier in the long run,as long as you are careful what you flash.

firewater s-off

Hi Scotty

Thanks very much for the help.

I've been playing around and I pleased to say It has all come back to me lol.

I've tried the Viper rom, but for some reason, it didn't have the back, app drawer buttons at the bottom. So becuase of this, I have installed the one you mentioned.

Couldn't be happier.

Thanks again.

Viper has a new option to remove the navigation bar at the bottom, it's a feature to some. :)

In Venom tweaks on the Viper Rom, there is an option to enable the Viper Nav Bar and it will auto-hide, then reappear with an up swipeon the screen. Thus giving you access to all of the screen real estate. ;)

Glad you've got your root on!! :)

I've just got up and decided to go with Granite1s' advice on the Viper rom, but I accidentally wiped everything off the internal sd card and now I can't get access to it via the pc to put said rom on it.

I've got an external sd card, but no way of dragging the rom on to it from the pc. I've been trying to flash it via command prompts and via adb sideload but with no luck.

Can anyone help me please?

Sorry to be a pain lol

Run out and purchase a micro sd to USB adapter and plug the card into the pc. Other than that, your only option is to push to internal storage,or adb sideload.

I figured I'd have to go out and buy one of them.

Could you tell me the commands for pushing it from the pc to the internal memory then please at all?

Many thanks
