Root Renamed Apps Still In App Drawer?

Okay so I rooted my phone to get rid of some of the bloatware. I renamed the Social Networking app but it is still showing up in my app drawer even though I renamed it!

Does anyone now why, thanks for the help.

Also check for files in the /data/app folder. If there are any similarly named .apk files, rename those as well. These are what shows up in the app drawer from what I understand.

I don't know. I don't see anything in /data/app or any updates to uninstall. Here are screenshots to make sure I am not doing anything wrong:

I believe the Social Network app is actually friendfeed.apk. Change the name of that one and you'll be all set.

Have you checked the "Setting - Applications - Manage Applications" menu. See if the programs appear in the list. If they do, uninstall them. If they don't, reboot and check again. I swear I've had the stock uninstallable programs appear in this list after I changed the .apk files. I was then able to "uninstall" them normally. I didn't see the programs before changing the .apk files. At least that is what I remember. It would be hard to go back a recreate the scenerio.

I renamed everything I could find, but this one still hangs out. It looks to be just an icon though, since it's not in the list of running processes, I don't think.

You are right. Thanks for that.

Also, as other people have said, after renaming an app I was able to uninstall them. I think the system thinks they are still there with a rename but can't load them. So by uninstalling them you really are just unlinking that application from the system while it still remains in memory as .bak.
