Root Renaming backups in Clockwork

So I know with Amon_RA you could rename the folder of the nandroid backups you made to make it easier to remember what was what. I've looked around, and found a few things saying that it would not recognize the backup if you change the name of the CWM backup, is this correct? Someone from (I believe) the Incredible Forums recommended adding something to the end, such as:

2011-04-01.18.56.50(BAMF1.4_Ziggy_REMOVE)

so that you know that this current backup is of Das Bamf v1.4 with Ziggy's kernel, and that you have to remove that addition before trying to restore this backup. Is this accurate? Someone from that forum had said they changed the name of a backup and were getting errors trying to restore it, and they had no idea what the backup was originally called. :(

I've never renamed or added anything to the file name in CWM. I keep a text file on my PC with a detailed description. Not useful if I'm not near my PC, but I usually have it on me 95% of the time.

I'm hoping someone who knows more about this can enlighten us

I thought of that as well, but I'm not always near my computer. I guess I could do that, and then only try to flash or restore things when I'm home... which I suppose I usually do anyway. I am curious to know if anybody else can shed some more light on this topic.

havent done any backups on the tbolt with cw yet but with both my droid and droid x using cw you could rename the files as long as there wasnt a space in the name...

2011-04-01.18.56.50(BAMF1.4_Ziggy_REMOVE) should work, if there was a space, then it wouldnt. fyi like i said havent used cw with the bolt yet, just got mine rooted and am backing up as we speak (its generating the md5 right now) :D

i keep my android backup descriptions on(ironically :p)my ipod. every now and then i email the notes to myself,so ive got them on my pc as well.

i could take the ipod with me if i thot i wanted to modify my phone on a trip or something, but so far i pretty much only change things around when im here. my trouble with renaming the file itself is mainly that i cant add as much desctiption as id like.
