Help (Repair Help) Thick horizontal lines across screens. Repair help. (pics)

Hello everyone and thank you for viewing my post. I have a phone that has suddenly started having thick horizontal lines across the entire screen. It also seems that the picture seems to skip upwards, not exactly sure how to explain it. I did not drop it or bang it, I pulled it out of my pocket and has been like this since. I'm fairly good with hardware replacement and feel confident that I can repair it myself. I would like anyone's opinion as to what it could possibly be. I researched around and my best guess is a wire has been damaged or came loose. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. It's still a decent phone I would hate to junk it for only a small repair.

I assume if you take a screen shot the picture appears normal, correct?
My guess is that it is indeed hardware failure (more specifically the digitizer). Your only options are repair it or replace it.
