gone from blackberry with no issues to Android where texting is a waste of time!

if it carrys on, with no fixing gonna tell people to stay away from Android

Same problem here also on O2 with Galaxy, currently up to 149 repeated texts from one number, called O2 for support and got text back 8 times thanking me for contacting them. Have been asked by O2 to take phone back and they will change it.
By the way I also have 2 Desires in family and have had Galaxy I1750 and HTC Hero all on Android no issues. I'ts not the Os I think it's something O2 have not addressed in 2.1 on the Galaxy GT I5500

I have the same issue. (i5500-fw v2.1 update1 - 02-UK) I bought this phone in sept'10 and immediately started receiving duplicated texts. I ignored it for two weeks and it eventually stopped without me doing anything to fix it.. However issue returned yesterday (Boxing day) When I contacted 02 Email Support I got this reply.

Hello John (Im not even called John)

Thanks for emailing us and I'm sorry you're multiple texts for every
text sent on your mobile phone.

I'd request you to check your message settings under 'service centre' or
'message centre number'. The number should be +44 780 209 2035. Make
sure there's a + before the 44, otherwise it won't work. Even if the
number is right, try deleting it and entering it again (sometimes this
helps).

Remember to make sure you've got enough space on your phone to use text
messaging. The best thing to do is delete any sent and received text
messages you don't need.

Also, there is no known technical fault with our text message service.
Please try the following checks to find out if there is a fault with
your mobile phone or SIM card by clicking on the link given below:

If you're still getting multiple texts please try a SIM swap. A SIM swap
involves trying your SIM card in another O2 compatible phone and trying
another O2 SIM card in your phone.

If you don't have access to another O2 compatible phone or SIM card,
please visit your local O2 store where our friendly staff will be happy
to help. You can find your nearest store by clicking on the link below:

O2 | Network Coverage | Coverage Checker

Or, I can arrange for another replacement SIM card to be sent to you
without any charges. For me to do this, please reply to my email with
the following details:

- results of SIM swap
- full address including postcode.

Once I've received this information, I'll be happy to order another
replacement SIM card for you and you'll receive it within three to five
working days.

I hope this resolves your problem.

If you?ve got any other questions, just ask. Or check our online help
centre:

Kind regards
