Replace HTC Lockscreen, an Incredible Find!

Interesting, I had airplane mode on and trackpad wake never worked. Turned it off and get the maybe-kind-of-works state most people seem to have.

I almost went that route but I didn't want the camera turning on in my pocket. At least with the dialer in the center it would still require another step or two to pocket dial.

Also, when you choose to not have a slider, the "back button unlocks" is automatically turned on.

There should be an option when customizing the slider widget to not use the back button to unlock since I am only using the slider widget to unlock the phone.

i like the camera in the middle, because the middle button looks like a shutter opening. veddy cool. :-)

Thanks for the update nice to see so many improvements! I love the fact that Widgetlocker now is right there at the boot of the device. I turn my phone off every night to charge so its nice to see it there first thing in the morning!

Only thing I've noticed since the update (I use a security pattern lock so want to mention that) is that when I slide to unlock (then do my security pattern to unlock the home screen) is that I briefly see the sense slider and then a "loading" screen appears. I'm assuming its sense just loading something.

I did not have this with the older version of widget locker. Does this have something to do with widget locker being loaded at boot now? Or this there some setting that I need to re-adjust to avoid this? If you need more detail please let me know.

Thanks again to Kevin!!

Is there a way to turn off the haptic feedback on a custom slider? Haven't figured this one out yet. I also get a brief downsized glimpse/flash of the lockscreen when unlocking the lockscreen before going to homescreen. Also, with Handcent, when I get my pop up reply, as I hit the text box to reply the pop-up does not slide up and the keyboard hides the text box. Without widget locker this functions as it supposed to. Thx kevin for the work!

The latest update to this lock screen is absolutely awesome! gives you the options to customize the slider as well as have a different wallpaper for your lockscreen than your regular wallpaper. plus all the normal abilities to add working widgets and shortcuts to the lockscreen. this is by far the best lockscreen I have ever used. it's exactly what I have always been looking for in a lockscreen.

I know someone else already brought this up in another thread and I'm not trying to steal any thunder from him/her. they were the ones that found it. just wanted to make another post since the update added all the things that I thought were missing from the original.

So of course I waited because I wanted a few bugs to be worked out and now it's a $1 more. Go figure.

Still probably worth it, I might go ahead and get it tomorrow.

can you compare lockbot vs widget locker
I like the dif lock screen feature in lockbot, I pick thru pics on phone and they alternate at each lock

I used both lockbot and widget locker, I think widget locker is far and above lockbot in every way. lockbot is pretty buggy, where as widget locker seems pretty stable. the only thing I see that might be a plus with lockbot is that it has a few more options for types of sliders. but with this new version of widget locker they have open on startup options as well as being able to add widgets to the lockscreen and customize exactly what buttons you want to use to unlock the phone. even gives you the option to change the volume of the phone with the lockscreen still active.

This is actually a safety feature, though I understand it's
undesirable and I do plan on changing it in the future.

It would be really terrible if there was a bug that caused
WidgetLocker to not be unlockable, especially since it starts so early
at boot now. For example if the user added a custom slider to the No
Slider page that had an unlock slider, then dragged it to the trash.
Or if the user checked the box for Camera Button Unlock, but doesn't
have a camera button. So right now "No Slider" forces the back button
to always unlock as a safety net.

In the future, I plan to have some really solid code to detect if it's
possible to unlock or not and let the user disable the back button if
it's safe, but automatically reenable it if something changes (Like if
they delete the custom slider, or if they switch phones from one that
had a trackball button but now does not, etc). But right now I wanted to get 1.2 out to users. I'm definitely planning on the nicer safety net though.

not a fan of my handcent notifications popping up over the lockscreen. any solution to this?
I'm not sure yet. I need to look into handcent and chompSMS popups. It's on my list.

I am aware of this, though I had not realized it was new in 1.2. That's good, I might be able bring back whatever make it work in 1.1.2. I'm guessing the change that introduced it is that now easy-wake works even when security is enabled (Which is a bit clever and clever code is not necessarily a good thing). But if you aren't using easy-wake then I might be able to avoid the brief view of the sense slider.

This is a bug. It was supposed to respect the global setting. I'll have it fixed in the next update.

Of which lockscreen, WidgetLocker, or the system keyguard? If it's WL is this perhaps an animated transition from the app behind it, such as LauncherPro?

Ah! I think I know what's causing that and I don't think I'll break anything else by changing it. I'll look into it.

I might consider this app I'd you could use sense widgets, but you can't, so no go for me.

I have the app, but yes, its very annoying I can't use the Sense weather widget etc..

Also, the android clock doesn't keep the correct day. Just stays on the original day that I loaded the widget. Time changes though.

Pretty much all of the above I agree on.

Beautiful! As I'm sure you appreciate the feedback from all the users, thanks for being so pro-active this will go a long way to making your app one that people will appreciate and those happy to do business with you. I applaud you.

Would be nice to try a trial or lite version to make sure there aren't any bugs...

There are a few small bugs....but compared to lockbot pro (which is the only alternative lockscreen I have tried) it's miles ahead. There is a good thread HERE if you'd like to read up on it and decide if $2 (iirc) is worth it to you. As well you have 24 hours to refund. The dev is pro-active and updates are on the horizon. It was just updated yesterday as well.

yeah I emailed the dev yesterday and he responded within 1 hour. the only bug I have found is that no matter how you have it set up the back button will unlock the phone. I emailed the dev and he explained that it was a safety feature since you could potentially lock yourself out of your phone by disabling all other unlock features and chosing no slider. whats worse if you set it up to automatically load on boot then you would be in really bad shape :) he did say that he plans to implement software in a later version that could smartly detect whether or not you have another way to unlock the phone and if so, allow you to disable the back button unlock feature. apparently, he said this software would detect if you happened to trash your slider and automatically enable the back button to unlock feature.

Hey Kevin,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I'm not using easy wake so that would be cool. Just so you know however I did enable easy wake, and this behavior happens with it enabled or disabled.

Cheers to you monitoring this thread! Thanks so much for a great app!!

Just downloaded this app today, and its AMAZING. It solved my problems of having the standard android lock swipe, wanting a way to control my volume/music from the lockscreen using a custom music app (the stock music app allowed this, but i don't use sense) and quicker access to the basic functions of the phone. Will be recommending this to anyone that has android.

One feature I've noticed I'd like is to be able to set certain hard buttons to wake. I realize you are having trouble with the incredible track pad to begin with but, if it was possible to wake the phone with JUST the track pad that would be AWESOME. I plan on using my phone for music a lot more and being able to adjust the volume without turning the music on is essential. Waking it via the optical pad would be nice but not essential
