Replace HTC Lockscreen, an Incredible Find!

Wow... I mean... WOW. So pretty! :p I have never seen this before!

Actually... I am not sure I should be seeing it now...

I have never used Sense UI. Ever. Within 10 minutes of powering my phone on for the first time I had removed all preloaded widgets and apps from the Sense homescreens and installed Launcher Pro. I have never gone back to Sense.

And because I have never used Sense and only use Launcher Pro... I have never used the Sense widgets. I can't use them in fact.

And yet now... when I "unlock" my phone... a tons of clouds fill the screen with lighting flashing through it (yes, we are having thunderstorms right now, so this is accurate).

I like it, it looks cool. But should it be doing that if I can not using Sense UI, or the Sense weather widgets? I am using Weather Widget and it's never been animated.

Just to clarify, I LIKE this! I am not complaining at all. Just wondering if it's supposed to do this...?

Under "Look and Feel" have you tried the different options for "HTC Weather Animations?"

I don't know I just saw it there thanks for the update kevin!

No, you shouldn't be seeing it. See my post above. The HTC Weather animation should only play if you unlock the phone and left it on a home screen with the HTC Clock/Weather widget on that home screen.

Oh no, don't "fix" it!! I like it!! :D

Can you at least keep it this way and just make it an option to turn on/off? Different settings? Such as "Use the animation always", "don't use the animation ever", "use it only on homescreen with widget"?

It's so pretty, I don't want it to go away :o

And now I sound like a spoiled little girl begging to not have her pretty toys taken away

EDIT:

WidgetLocker is actually manually triggering the animations since the Sense UI won't when WidgetLocker is running. I considered making them only play on the Sense UI home, but I figured some people might like them with LauncherPro or whatever. You can turn them off in Settings > Look & Feel > Htc Weather Animations.

WidgetLocker triggering them is also the reason they play on any home screen, not just the one with the widget, and why they keep going even after you touch the screen.

Yay, I get to keep it!! *jumps up and down like a little girl with a new pony*

Kevin - I think I have a little Dev crush on you right now :p

But seriously, I love this app. Great work. I have already convinced 3 people to buy it and I will probably be able to convert a few more over the weekend when I see some other Andoid users. I know for a fact one is using the free Lock Bot and not liking it.

if you go in to Settings> Look and Feel> HTC Weather Animations, you can keep it set to "Home Screen" or "Any Application", or "disable."

no need to have a "fix"
I dont use the weather apps at all and it appeared, just searched around in the tools to fix it myself. :)

Very good to know. I am sure people will be asking about this later.

Question though... if I am not using the HTC Weather Widget, never even set it up, how is WL pulling my weather data? Is it getting it from my location? Or my current weather widget? Or somehow using the HTC Sense one, even though I don't use it?

And yes, I realize that even I don't use it, it's still there. So maybe its accessing it in some way...?

All I know is... it looks cool and I like it. And it's accurate. We are having thunderstorms (we're under a watch, too) and that is the animation that showed.

more than likely based on your location. even when GPS is off, most people have allowed Google to access their location for the web.

Again thanks for the update and all the work put into this app.

This new update offsets my wallpaper to a different position. I use 2 screen with LP and my default screen (home screen) has an image on it. On the older WL the lockscreen was this exact same image (but dimmed with your settings). Now with the new update that same image is off to the right of the screen. I can just choose an alternate lock wallpaper just wanted to point it out.

One more minor thing I noticed. I have a battery widget on my lockscreen. When I click it to go into my battery stats and return to the lockscreen via the "back" button it goes into tool mode (unlock green icon changes to an "x" and is no longer a "padlock"). It never used to do this.

I see. I should've checked the options first. I disabled it, because while I love the animations, it is very distracting if you open an app and the animation is still going.

If there is any way to make it act like it does for HTC Sense by default (only animate when HTC Weather is on the home screen last used and stop when screen is touched), that'd be awesome. If not, it's not the worst thing. I can live without the animations; they just add a nice touch.

Here's a pictorial example of what I was referring to kevin in post #381

Most recent WL version before this latest update: (don't mind the "TEXT" icon)

And my home screen:

And with this latest build of WL:

But homescreen is still the same:

And after I click on either the battery stat widget or my big clock and use the back button to come back to the lockscreen I get this

Hardly an issue hope this helps ;)

i'm feeling awfully left out. i don't get the weather animations, even though i have it set to do so (on home only). i unlock, and i don't see any animation. any idea how i can fix this? i'm using sense ui on my incredible with the clock/weather widget on my home screen. i've tried both "home only" and "any application," and neither one will give me the animation on unlock. thanks.

EDIT: to also say that i've already powered off and on, thinking maybe if it reloads it would work. no dice.

My weather animations don't stop. They keep going through my sms my internet... everything

Do you mean they keep going, and going, and going...

Or they just don't stop the first time even if you touch the screen.

I noted the second problem above. Kevin explained why this one happens, but not the first if that's your issue.

i emailed Kevin, but i figure ill post it here in case anyone else has the problem... when my phone is locked, if i get a call ill answer it, but after the call, instead of going back to the lock screen, it enters Tool Mode. same with when i check my email (i have a gmail widget on my screen), it goes right into tool mode after checking it.

emailed Kevin in regards to the issue, he stated he was looking in to it for me.

Same problem here. It actually happens if you go into any app from the WidgetLocker screen and then hit the back button to return to WL.

Just got the update a short while ago. It seems to be making my phone lag a bit. Anyone else have this problem?

I think I figured it out. (I'm not using Launcher Pro by the way).

It was the option for the HTC Animations. It was set to on by default. Ever since I turned it off and rebooted the phone, the speed seems back to normal for me.

YMMV.

Yup and yup that's what my previous post is about above...he'll have this fixed ASAP

Just got the update...things seem to be progressing nicely.

My question is about the alarm and call answering behavior. I know you can now have it not unlock but there didnt seem to be a way to answer directly from the lock screen.

Just to be clear I have to slide to unlock, and then press the answer button.

I just wanted to say as well that I am sure we all appreciate the frequent updates. It makes it interesting :)

so is anyone else having a problem getting the weather animations to work on the incredible? or is it just me? (crickets)

The animation has been working so far on my Incredible. Yesterday was partly cloudy, got a thunderstorm and saw lighting. Today is sunny and get a nice sunny animation.

Are you using a security lock? Weather Animations should work by themselves with the security lock, so WidgetLocker doesn't manually activate them. However this isn't great for Sense-Froyo's new "Lock screen after" setting where the security lock doesn't always appear.
