Help Replace SLCD with AMOLED

andyneouk

Lurker
Hi,

I got my desire about 3 weeks ago and with a week i dropped it, shattered the digitiser and damaged the SLCD. I decided to "try" and do a self-repair - i bought a new digitixer and LCD (AMOLED). I know for sure that i had an SLCD as it wasnt branded samsung on the rear of the screen unlike its replacement which did. My problem is that the AMOLED wont work. my SLCD works fine (except the damaged pixels) so i know the handset itself is fine. Any ideas? kind of ran out of ideas.

thanks,
andy

Thanks for the info. Do you think it's purely a software issue with the version of froyo or a hardware issue? When I disassembled the phone everything looked and connected the same as an amoled version. Anyone got an insight into this? Thanks

How did you go with this, i am having the same issue, i have replaced a Broken slcd with an amoled and nothing works on screen, phone works but no display.

Just asking out of curiosity: :)
Where did you buy the AMOLED?

All displays I have seen are named "LCD".

plastered all over ebay, thats all that i can find.
if you look at the pictures of the product, they all have a samsung sticker, which means they are the AMOLED, which is great
but i cant seem to get this to work

I wonder weather the main pcb is different for the AMOLED display.

I have done a lot of searching, but no-one seams to know the answer.
