Help Replacement Battery Causing Problem

ShieldsUp

Lurker
A while ago I bought a replacement battery for my HTC Desire HD which I have been using daily without any problem. I kept my original battery in case of emergencies for when I go travelling. Today I was travelling and my new battery ran out so I popped in the original battery, which was at 100%.

That's when my problems started.

Suddenly all the apps installed on the SD card were unavailable and nothing I did could make them work. I restarted the phone a number of times, all with no success. It then constantly started to crash.

I realised it was possibly an issue with the SD card so I tried various things such as dismounting the SD card, restarting with and without the card installed, restarting as normal. Nothing worked and it was eating the battery, suddenly it was at 70%, 60%. I am truly baffled. Sometimes HTC Sense crashes and the SD card apps are available again, then the phone crashes and they are unavailable once more. When I tried to access the internet the phone claimed there was no signal when there was quite clearly a decent 3G signal being received.

When I returned home I put the other battery back in and plugged the phone in to recharge, unfortunately to my disappointment the exact same problem remains. This is where I am at the moment. The SD card apps aren't available and the phone is constantly restarting.

What on earth can I do? Why has replacing the battery then putting it back done this to the phone? I am now desperate!
