Replacement for Eris?

I guess I couldn't do much so I just took the Eris as a replacement. Then in a few weeks I will try another call and see what happens.

How do you know that in a few weeks you will call again with a faulty phone? Unless of course......

I have a simple question for you folks.

I have been in contact with Verizon regarding issues with my Eris for a past 2 months. I decided to try and deal with it since the Supervisor would not approve the CSR's order she put through for me to get me an X. The issue I am having with this phone is the malfunction between the trackball and the charging port, when the phone is not on the charger and has not been on the charger. My touchscreen is useless. Well, to make a long story short I dropped my Eris (took my otterbox off) on the cement and the screen cracked. Now my question is. I cannot deal with the touchscreen being awful and the cracked screen...Anyway will Verizon give me a replacement even tho my screen is cracked? I believe no, but Asurion said since they have record of my issues and the dropping of the phone is not what caused my issues then Verizon should cover the phone as a warranty malfunction issue.?

I will just say something like reception isn't like it was on my previous phone, and it doesn't lock into 3G at work or something. I would never try to purposefully mess up a phone.

I would suggest at least giving the eris another shot. It is kind of morally wrong to give faulty reasons for your eris not working just to get a Droid. Which might not be a reality anyways since alot of places are out of Droid 1's. Not telling you what to do, but it might not go as planned if you try it this way. You might get stuck with an Ally or Devour.

If I were you I would still send it in. Don't go to a verizon store to do it though as it will most likely fail. Just call them over the phone and tell them you are having issues with your phone. When I sent my Eris in, It was rooted, Had water damage, and had a screen that wouldn't turn on and they still accepted it and I've never had them call back and say anything about it.

I am pretty sure they aren't giving the Devour(from what Im reading), and the Ally could be decent specially if they can get 2.2 on it, but the looks are a bit eh.

I have to say, Eris going to 2.1 wasn't the most thought-over of ideas. Even though I felt outdated with it running 1.5, the phone was reasonably snappy, made and received calls flawlessly. Since the OTA my Eris hangs/locks almost daily (only removing the battery "fixes" this). I've tried VZW's *228 reprogramming to no avail. Takes about 20 seconds for my phone to hang up a call and be ready for the next -- so incredibly annoying. Tomorrow my second replacements arrives, I hope it's a different model.

Be persistant i was and they offered me a referbished droid 2 they messed up and sent me a droid x :) got lucky i guess

Heh, as it turns out, I called them up. I talked to them straight. My replacement device was not performing correctly. I shouldn't have to wait 10 seconds to get a dial pad after I hang up a different call. The text app shouldn't crash while the phone is multi-tasking. Getting a second call at the same time while talking on the phone shouldn't crash my phone. They were very, very understanding and after about 45 minutes talking to a "technician," I was offered an upgrade to the D2 (for $75) and it doesn't extend my contract. So, I'm not complaining :)
