replacement handset

Sooo Im on orange and have had nothing but crashing overheating slowing down and strange things like battery disappearing off screen, laggy txt and silent profile deciding to not be silent...

Orange are going to send me a replacement tonight... Will this fix the problems? Spoke to a few ppl with same issues on replacement. Anyone got any advice?
 
Been like 12 hours and replacement is on 4.0.3 and seems to be running exactly the same as previous phone :-(

Orange said they could give me another handset but i don't want to end up with anything rubbish when i could just potentially flash it?

Anyone got any experience of getting offered alternative handset? What is it likely to be? Would i be better off just voiding my warrenty and putting a different Rom on?
 
Have you tried a hard reset of the phone?

Once reset does it still have the problems that you described earlier? If it does then i would go to an Orange shop and show them the problem. A fresh new phone should be functional and not have the issues you described.

If it's fine after a hard reset then gradually add some of your apps and tets it after each one to see if it causes the problem. Do this while the SD card is not inserted.
 
I wouldn't bother doing a hard reset as I have exactly the same issues and resetting the phone didn't do anything - if anything it made things worse! I'm at the point of getting a replacement handset from O2 as they've even sent mine off to be repaired - the repair centre said fault found and fixed - but nothing had changed when I got the phone back.
 
update:

Orange are phoning Samsung to ask Samsung to revert my ICS back to gingerbread?! Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
My friend was given a different handset - the man I spoke to the other day said I'd be given a different handset...

all very strange! not sure how I feel about having a functioning phone! haha
 
getting a bit sick of hold music now... rang samsung... they hung up on me... is orange just spinning me a yarn about samsung being able to fix this?
 
Ive had the battery icon missing problem with ICS 4.0.3 but so far that is all and it is back for now. Hope it doesnt get any worse as im out of warrenty.
 
Well orange said they would phone me back but surprise surprise didn't... They keep acting like I am the only person in the world with these problems! Pondering just recycling it for 195 and putting it towards an iphone ?
