Root replacement phone. 596 stock whats my root path?

Had my phone replaced and it came pre loaded with. 596 and I would like to get it rooted what would be the path to take to achieve this also is there a way I can back up the system (apps, settings, dock and home screen layouts ect.) and restore it without overwriting the root?
