Help Replacement phone - apps backed up?

Pattie

Newbie
Hello,

My phone stopped working, the lock screen wouldn't unlock. Verizon replaced the phone. I had apps on the phone that I stored on the SD card. I now have the SD card in the new phone, how do I access the apps and games that were stored there?

I downloaded one game that I had been playing on my old phone, but my progress is not there, it's starting from level 1 again.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry to say but I think you're going to be out of luck.

Installing apps on the SD card doesn't make them portable - it's just done to save space on the internal drive. The only way I am aware off to transfer apps between phones is to root and use an app like Titanium Backup. However this would have to been already installed, configured and running on the old phone before it was replaced.

It sounds like this is not the case here. Most apps store their data on an internal protected folder for security reasons.

There are a few apps that allow you to save backups of state to the SD but these are few and far between and rarely, if ever, automatic.
