Replacement phone for 4G data drop, will it work?

Just by my experiences with my Bionic, I can say that exchanging phones did not help the problem. I as well live in So Cal and I've literally have gone through 4 phones, with the last 2 being new. Did everything possible to remedy without FDR our having them send a replacement as well; Sim card swap, soft/hard reset, battery swaps, etc. All failed unfortunately. I've since installed ICS leak .232 and have not had any concerns with data drops at all!
Sorry that you're struggling with your phone but I hope this helps...

Well with the release being a little closer today I think I'll wait for the OTA ICS.
BTW, I did have a couple data drops the first day in 4G territory but today was good.

In the 244 thread they are discussing how 244 was found on a staging server which seems to make them optimistic that MIGHT be the one going to soak. So hopefully we are close.

Well I am on phone #2, after less than 12 hours they are sending me another as this one seems to like to restart itself a lot. I let the tech support person (which they always apologize for our inconvenience) that if the next one gives me the same trouble I will be raising holy hell when I call back, I spent 3 hours getting the new phone back to where my old one was with all the apps and settings, I have no time to waste on a phone that is a problem child.

I can wait a few more weeks if that's the case and I really hope so.
BTW what is soak? I read it alot here. Is it like a program in beta?

Soak used to be pre-release testing (just before release). They were convinced it was ready to go production and they would give it an extra week for volunteers to beat on.

With 5.9.905 they sent the soak to some people who volunteered and some people who had not volunteered.

I am going to be very interested to see how they reinterpret it for the ICS release.

My first reset of a Bionic wasted more than six hours of my time. I learned to take photos of every home screen so that I can at least get every icon back where I am used to them being located, following a reset/replacement phone. I HATE resetting!!!! I've had to endure two replacement phones, plus one reset and my patience has been pretty much exhausted. I still get data drops...

To add to my recent post, I also had a 4G failure today with phone #2. Not getting to excited on #3 showing up, I would have to say over all it has been a great phone, now I am just hoping to make to the next update.

I too had data drops on my second phone for the second day. It has to be the phone and how it connects to the network through the O.S. so I'm really hopeful that ICS will fix it.
I wonder if iphones have this type of problem when Apple releases their updates. (Please dont ban me for mentioning the anti-droid )

LOL! For the life of me I don't know what the attraction is to the iPhone. I can do so much more on a Bionic (or any current android phone), and the screen is larger than even the upcoming, ho-hum iPhone5.

One thing Apple does well, is making you WANT to buy something.
I don't know, I never had any interest in the iPhone, just seems like an iPod with a phone in it, and I already have an iPod Touch, though I may get the iPod Touch 5G. The iPhone just seems more like a glorified multimedia device.

Also never had any interest in the iPad either. Can get a decent laptop for the price.

My Bionic I got from Verizon is dropping the connection to 3g quite often. I'm having a refurb sent to me only because the bionic I bought from ebay (Using the same sim card) has no issues.

I have been having infernally slow speeds on 4G recently, I mean around .5Mb/s both up and down. 3G has been better, around 3Mb/s up and down. I do not believe that has been a problem to my particular phone, but rather the network, though, as typical, Verizon denies any problem. Wifi has been absolutely fine. But I too have noticed 3G dropping data as well the past couple of days, and when doing routine things. Like, when I make a phone call, data will drop and pick back up. Sometimes when I open an app, same thing.

Personally I believe Verizon is adjusting the network and the authentication issues are really showing. I haven't installed 232 and with the final release seemingly around the corner, I think I will wait. Slow data isn't too much of an issue for me, though it is annoying considering I am paying for much faster. If the software adjuestments that ICS seems to contain doesn't fix this, then I will be at Verizon complaining rather firmly.

Yep, phone #3 also has 4G data drop, going to call again tomorrow. Didn't even waste my time setting this one as I had my original, knew it would fail. Will not accept another Bionic, love the phone, hate the issues.

Wouldn't blame the Bionic. There is blame to go around, but it's on Verizon, not the phones. Seems all their 4G phones have issues. The Nexus, some of them, still are.

The Razr's had their issues before the ICS upgrade, though that was buggy. Not sure if data drops was one of them, but haven't read much of Razr data drops since they got their ICS. Since the ICS OTA appears to be very close to release, I am going to wait till it is to see if the problems are resolved. If not, well, I too am going to complain, but not sure I want a replacement 4G phone from them since they all seem to have or had issues.

I agree it has to do with updates, not the phone. However, I have been upgraded to the Razr Maxx. Will miss the Bionic, but I am enjoying the Razr Maxx also.

I just contacted Verizon and they are swapping my bionic for a regular Razr. How'd you get the Maxx?
