Replacement Phones

My husband's was damaged out of the box. Power button would stick. Went to the Verizon store, and they ordered him a new one. When it came, it was in the brown cardboard box. I called them and asked why I received a "like new" device when the one we had was only 2 days old. I was told the rep at the store coded the exchange in wrong, and they would send out a brand new one. So I packed up the refurb and sent it off. Called VZW today to find out if they could give me a tracking number, said it hadn't been shipped and didn't know when it would ship. Lovely.

This is my husband's first trip around the block with a Smartphone...and he got in the car kicking and screaming. It's going to be hell around here if they don't get that phone here any quicker than the 29th.

If they replace mine I am not sending mine back until I get the brand new one and they will have to deal with it. I am not going without the phone for a number of days, plain and simple.

Another thing, actually I should be getting a "retail box" since I haven't sent in my mail-in-rebate, and I need the bar code to do so (When I talked the CSR about my rebate, she CSR reminded me that I needed the bar code from the retail box, and would have to wait until I received my replacement to send it in)...

When I was talking to the CSR about my replacement, she said that she would look if there were any Incredibles in stock in my area that I could go and replace it. Unfortunately, all the stores were out of stock in my area, so that's when I ordered a new one through the CSR. Basically what they did was they billed me for a new phone, and then credited my account with the difference once they received the defected one...

Not sure how the whole process usually works, since this is my first time returning anything...

I did the same thing ,.they hit my credit card and said it would be refunded when they receive the old one.

I had to order a phone under warranty today and they said that Verizon was sending new phones bc the phone is to new to have cpo.

Just talked to a CSR, every one in a brown cardboard box is a certified refurb, she is supposed to call me back because I said that is BS and I am not happy getting a refurb when I had a brand new phone that I had to send in due to Hardware issues. She said she will call me back within the hour.

In Case anyone cares, here how my story turned out so far.

Got a Phone shipped to me for a hardware issue identified in store, came in just a brown cardboard box.

Called Verizon Customer Service, they confirmed it was a Refurb, nothing they can do as the store ordered the wrong type of phone, should have ordered a new one. I asked why they could not order me a new one citing other's receiving new phones through *611 and they said there is no way for them to do that since the Store screwed up.

They told me to go to the store and demand they order me a new one no matter what.

Talked to the Rep at the store I dealt with last week, he said there are NO Refurbs and the CS Rep was confused because they have a Refurb code in front of the device, but the device is too new to have Refurbs. I told him I don't know what to believe but it sure didn't look new to me.

He checked with the Manager, and they are going to give me a brand new one and take it out of the box so I can see. The only problem is, there next shipment isn't until 5/29. So now I will use this one and swap it out. He also made a note in my file as it will be pushing my 30 days but I should be ok with this exception.

I ride a ferry on my commute to work. While reading the interwebs and going from portrait to landscape we hit a big wake causing me to drop the phone (first time I've actually dropped a phone in 5 years). Needless to say, screen is smashed. Filed a claim with Asurion online and had a replacement the next day via mail. It was indeed a new phone, but it has the god awful pink hue. Called them up and explained the situation and they are going to send me another one, would have been here today but they are back ordered.

I got mine, same with the unmarked cardboard box and bubble wrap, but it looks brand new even though it is probably a refurb. How the heck do they even have refurbs of these things already?

Mine came the same way and I called them today and demanded a new in the box phone. They shipped it out today overnight.

well there are definitely refurbs because the rep I spoke with today verified that when I called to say I received one instead of a new one.

Where are these refurbished phones coming from? The handset is out less than 3 weeks? Something is wrong here.

Mine came from tech support, while on the phone he went and checked to see if he had any. He did not tell me it was a refurb before he sent it

I called VZW tech support last Sat (May 8th). My Inc has signal/reception issues. I bought my Inc on May 1st. No phones within a 100 mile radius. The local VZW store ordered me a phone. I was told that it would be new.

Today my phone came. It's a refurrb/like new Inc. It's in a plain brown box. I called to complain. I was informed by Tech support I would receive a new one (I kept the reps name I talked with). They saw the notes. They said it was keyed in wrong by the store (sound familiar?). I asked where the hell these refurbs were coming from. She didn't know.

The worst part is the order for my replacement phone isn't suppose to ship until May 31st. I'm not sure what the time frame is used before you get a refurb instead of new, but it sure ain't 7 days.

So, beware, you probably will get a refurb if you have problems with your current device and need to order a replacement (until current stock levels change).

Well the rep I spoke with today shipped me a new phone out after I called and complained that I got a refurb. Got a tracking number and it will be here tomorrow so there is stock in the warehouse but maybe none in the stores yet.

I called for a replacement today but was told they don't know when it will ship. The woman said they are all backed up with these phones. I'll give them another call tomorrow and demand a brand new, in the original box phone be shipped out.

It's nonsense they are shipping out refurb phones this early. Makes me question the build quality of this phone.

Called and they said they WOULD send me a new phone, if they had any, but they don't. They are backordered until June 1.

My options are a) take a refurb, b) get the new one AFTER my 30-day guarantee is up, or c) return the phone and leave Verizon

Yea, well, that's all fine and dandy. That's what they told me too and I got a refurb. Look on the VZW website and it even says for the Inc, ships on 6-1.

For those of you who received a refurbished phone, did you call Verizon and talked to a CSR to replace your phone, or did you go to a Verizon store and get them to order you a replacement? Also did you guys receive tracking numbers?

I had a replacement sent to me because of my camera crashing and dust under the glass and the replacement phone sent to me was an ERIS!!!! I called them back today and she said that it was a mistake and are sending out an Incredible, but will be the 29th. They never even charged me for the Eris they sent, but said I still had to return it so I wouldn't get charged in the future. But I asked the rep and she said yes that it will be NEW, anything returned for defect within the first 30days it is Verizon's policy to replace with a NEW device. Its called the Worry Free Guarantee. The Eris they sent me was new in retail box also. She also said that they don't even have any rerub units yet since it is still so new.

I called VZW because I got a refurb and it was suppose to be new. I'm wondering if I should stick with this.

No tracking numbers. These phones aren't shipping until the end of may.
