Root Replacing stock app with downloaded app?

I want to replace my stock gallery app with QuickPic. Is that possible?

My bad. Replace as in, put in to system apps and move the original out.

I dont think it will work putting it in system/apps...plus I dont think it will update even if it does. Im not 100% on this but Im pretty sure you should put it in data/app that would probably be safer. Maybe someone confirm this?

yes it will still update, and also you can use titu to convert it to a system app, but make sure you backup your original gallery just in case.
