Root Replacing stock recovery

I was wondering if anyone was able to flash over the stock android recovery with something else say for exmpe cwm? I'm thinking that if we could then peraps we could use a similar approach to install a bootloader for linux.
My tought process was this:
Flash grub over recovery partition
Name grub recovery.img to flash it
Grub loads sdcard then points to it and loads linux designed for arm (backtrack)

This way you can boot linux by booting into the recovery partition which in turn would boot the grub loader

Any ideas?

the bootloader is encrypted, with all the brilliant minds that were trying to crack it, none have prevailed, we do have custom recovery however, its called Droid X/2 Bootstrapper

and that is the only way to flash the clockwork
it is the only thing that you absolutely have to have if you want to flash anything
