Help Replacing the microSD card?

I have a Rise from Virgin Mobile.

The phone's storage status indicates that the default 2gb card contains 2mb of Apps. So, if I replace the microSD card, will I loose vital programs or settings for the phone?

You can just connect the phone to your computer in mass storage mode and copy everything from the original card and then just reverse the process to write the files back to the new card.
