after my ota update, I noticed the dialer extremely laggy... I could not use speed dial... my photos would not view in vertical view and the list button would take me back to the albums page, and finally the no sound no phone call bug that is extremely horrible....


I did the factory reset which cured the speed dial issue and the general laggyness but i still cant use the list button in my photo viewer and i have gotten the no sound/no call bug 3x since i did the reset 2 days ago.....


this sucks
 
I hope some can help me. Since the OTA, some of the settings don't stay. On HTC's weather widget, when i change the settings to update every hour, when i check back, it's set not to update. Same thing when changing the sound profile to silent. It just goes back to normal.

I'm also having signal problems but i've heard around here that right now there's no fix.
 
For some reason my phone would randomly reload; display the HTC splash screen and then say "loading...." This has been happening the last 3 days. I backed-up my contacts using the Export feature in Contacts.

Made a cup of tea and doing the factory reset now.

My OTA version did this EXACT same thing.

In coordination with the individual ringtones not working, it also doesn't work when you set Send to Voicemail ON.

It worked PERFECT until about a week ago, again. It happened before, a hard reset fixed it, and now, AGAIN, it doesn't work.

This just also happened on my Co-Worker's Eris. I wonder if they'll release a patch eventually to fix it?

Every OTA Eris flash I've used does this as well. Completely at random, the HTC Splash screen will come back - it's almost like my phone doing a partial Restart.

It happens even after a wipe.
 
i agree with what i am reading on here....since 2.1 OTA the battery is worse and so is the 3G. not unbearble but annoying...
 
Did the OTA update yesterday and so far, no issues. It may help to add that I had no issues on 1.5 either, though. Just waiting for the dreaded silent bug to hit me. Fingers crossed it doesn't. Other than that, I'm so happy to have Navigation FINALLY.
 
I have a couple of problems that may not be problems at all, but which I have not seen in this thread.

I had 1.5 and upgraded via OTA. Post upgrade, I ran mybackuppro to re-install contacts and android home (not settings). However, I wonder if this was a bad idea.

First, while I can toggle between list and grid from my all programs, my preference is for list, and every time I restart the phone (once a few days) it changes from list to grid almost as if grid is the default and I cannot change that.

Second, before running mybackuppro, I was able to temporarily experience the nice pinch feature so that I could see all my screens. However, it seems I can no longer do this and the only way to bring up the screens is to double-click the home button. Does anyone know if this is a setting?

My other two problems are more generic: (1) lagging blah blah blah and (2) my touch screen sometimes is schizo. I've seen it mentioned before that while plugged in this may occur, but without it plugged it sometimes the screen is super sensitive and would jump way ahead or being up my notification window without me being even close to dragging it down.

Thoughts are greatly appreciate (this is my first post, sorry for not making an introductory post, and thank you to all the contributors who I've been following for the past few months)
 
Went into Verizon store today about the silent call issue. Explained the issue to the rep and he pulled out his Eris and called mine -- couldn't duplicate the problem, but he said it's intermittent and he can never get them to do things on command. He placed the order for a replacement phone without any questions -- no factory reset, no nothing. I asked if he was getting a lot of people coming in with problems with the Eris. He said practically none before the OTA -- unlike the MotoDroid which seemed to have a lot. Since the OTA he's getting touch screen issues as well as the silent call issue.

I am always pleased with the reps I have dealt with at Verizon, but true to form, some are much more tech savvy than others.
 
I am mostly happy with 2.1 especially because of the apps that are available to me that weren't with 1.5, like Nexus 3D Gallery, Vlingo and Urbanspoon.

Although 2.1 does seem to make the phone run smoother and transition better, there are some glitches that are frustrating. Pinch to zoom seems to come and go but I hear that might be a swype problem. But still, I didn't have it in 1.5. The other problem is with the people app/widget and my contacts. For some reason it is throwing numbers in my contacts that no amount of editing and re syncing will fix. It wouldn't be a problem except that whenever I try to then send an sms to this person it comes up with 2 or 3 different numbers that i have to choose from. i have to make sure I choose the right one. I don't know if it has something to do with how it links with their fb contact. It wouldn't be so aggravating if it wasn't for my son and daughter. And it also won't show people i set as favorites in order to put in the widget in my full contacts, even tho I have designated them as both family and favorites. grrr.

Do you know there is a setting in 2.1 for the ringing to reduce in volume when you move it during the ringing? Probably doesn't relate to your problem but thought I 'd throw that out there.

Great point! I noticed that odd but cool little feature when I first got the update. I'm gonna disable it and see if that fixes the issue. I'll get back to you guys after I test it out...
 
Are these bugs the same with the 2.1v3 leak? I am running v2, and I don't have any major problems. So I was wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to v3. I wonder what the major differences are?
 
So I did the factory reset and reinstalled all my apps...everything working fine so far. Previous glitches have not resurfaced. However, LOL, now Beautiful widget is acting up. It keeps saying my GPS location is Vilnius....I'm no where near Lithuania.

Consensus is, if you're fine on v2, you'll be fine on v3. And it's always cleaner to do a full wipe anyway, which you have to do from leak to leak.
 
does any1 experience the following scenario?

"when i call another person who is on another line, i dont get the call waiting beep or message on the screen ".

it's quite inconvenient because i don't know if the another person is on another line or not available to answer.

Please help me.

After the 2.1 OTA I've had a few of the bugs most people have mentioned here, but for the most part they seem to have gone by the wayside eventually fixing themselves.

The WORST bug I have is out of nowhere the volume rocker will stop changing my ringer volume. I push it both ways and nothing happens, or when I push up, it goes down and down it goes up. After this happens if I get a call the phone will only vibrate and not give an audible ring no matter where the ringer vol. is set at and then wont connect the call.

People who have called me while i've been experiencing this issue say it's just silent and then becomes disconnected. I have to reboot the phone in order to fix it. SUCH a pain in the ass!

any tips??? :confused:

Sounds like part of the Silent Call bug.

Usually the Volume control goes haywire when it's happening. And as far as the call waiting, I've noticed that to be one of the things that triggers the bug.

I'll get the incoming call beep and the picture of who's calling while in the middle of a call, but once I hang up the phone and try to hear their VM the other person left while I was on the other call... everything hangs. Volume control, Dialer keys, just like it was diagnosed earlier, any action that produces a sound gets hung up.

I've tried turning off the "Quiet phone when I pick up" feature, and manually selecting Voice Mail sources. It still happens, but when it does a quick reboot should get you back and working for a while.

I've noticed it happens more often after somebody leaves me a VM. Because once I see it I usually listen to it right away. Not sure if this is the same across the board.

has anyone received any advice as to how to fix the ringtone issue? I'm getting very frustrated. I think it has to do with linking the contact to their fb. Also, I've had the "no ring" issue even when phone is sitting right next to me.

I am Brand new to the forum and I must say people on here look very friendly and helpful :).

I bought 2 new Eris phones a few days ago for me and my daughter. We are still on version 1.5...and not having any real issues (maybe a little lag time for responsiveness but not much).

We have received notifications for the upgrade to 2.1.
Since reading thru alot about the 2.1 upgrade, it seems to me there might be more problems than it's worth?
I have seen some posts also for users that have had no problems, but it seems to me a majority of people are having issues.
What do you guys think?

FYI, I have a standard GPS and I use that all the time for travel.

I updated. I had very little to no problems on 1.5, then installed each of the 3 leaks as they were revealed. There may be something to Frisco's theory of a "trouble-free" phone running 1.5 often equates to a "trouble-free" phone running 2.1. I enjoy many of the new features, of course one was the navigation which apparently you do not need. It's preference. Good luck with what direction you chose to take. If you decide to update, be sure to read the pertinent posts, and a factory reset after.
