Purchased the phone and love it and the stock customizing options real fast and responsive running ics stock this is a great phone awaiting a challenger to root! Thanks for the consideration

I have had a quick search on the net and there appear to be a lot of people who are asking the same. Here at Android Forums, we primarily deal with user-to-user support... I am sure that someone will shout up if someone is able to help... this sub-forum doesn't appear to currently have a lot of traffic though.

If you do manage to root your phone and share the link here, we would include a link in the root sticky :)

Just an update for you. I think I have a solution worked out but its complicated. I have to re-install Ubuntu as I completely hosed it a while back and its being all stupid now. The process is a little convoluted and honestly not for the faint of heart but it should work. Unfortunately at this point it will require a you to do a lot of command line work and there is nothing even close to a one click root method. The two major hurdles we have to jump is the lack of drivers (the phone isn't recognized in ADB) and the rooting method was developed for other devices and may or may not work with our phones. But if all goes well I hope to have this phone rooted before the weekend is up or have a very shinny paperweight.

Sounds like great news for other Flex owners. I am keeping an eye here and will put a link in the sticky for you once you have a successful root method :)

Just an update

Im having issues getting adb to recognize the flex still. But I have made steps in the right directions. I think my issues is because of my OS version or perhaps my adb version. Im looking into this and getting some help from an xda member. If it comes to it I will just install an older version of everything and see if that gets us. Once we get into the phone it should be just a matter of using bin4ry's root method to get rooted. Then we will need to make it easier for everyone else.

update

I have ADB linking with the phone working on getting the bin4ry root method to work on the flex... it relies on a program that force closes everytime it runs on the Flex. Im searching for a way around this issue now.

got some help from Bin4ry on his rooting method. I think we may have problem worked out I have to wait till I get home tonight to give it a try. But things look promising.
