Root Required System Size if removing apps from ROM

Hello all,

I have custom mtd, and Redux 2 Test installed. When the first Redux "final/non-test" is out I'm looking to install it with a load of apps, etc. removed. This will enable me to use a smaller system partition.

The issue I'm not sure on is how to know what the minimum size required is? Is it the size of the resultant zip file (plus a bit extra for theme and/or system app updates)? Or will it need x amount more than zip size - where x is calculable or guessable?

I did try with my most recent update, but got a boot failure - though as it was after midnight, I can't be sure I didn't make a mistake in my set-up and install.

It doesnt quite work like that. Usually the extracted zip plus a bit more tells you, but the best way is to apply the MTD afterward.

Best bet is to remove things you dont need and see how big it is on teh phone usiong Quick system info

That seems like a good plan. Thanks.

Not something I'll want to do a lot - hence why I'm waiting for the Test series to end first.
