Help reset default action

HI All,

just got a Galaxy Note, man it's big! But very cool!

anyway, I set the default action to the wrong selection in the action for the little orange envelope icon when in the phone app. Tried to attach a screenshot but since this is my first post i could not.

I can't find where to have the phone "forget" the default action. can anyone help me?

I went to clear defaults in Settings>applications, but could not find the proper application. Tried to clear the defaults for the phone app, but nothing to clear...

By the way, when I pressed the button for the first time, the two options I had on screen for this button were the Green phone icon (which i chose) and Skype. What is this button supposed to do? Almost looks like it would send a text message or call voicemail...
 
Hi Colin,

You are in the correct place, but under Settings>applications->All you need to click on the application you selected as the default (shame you cannot remember). When I go into an app that I have set as a defult I do see settings that I can clear.

Perhaps answering your other question will help. The green phone icon is the dialer app. Try looking in that one and see if you have something to clear.

Yes, it was the dialer App that I selected as the default action. I was given the option of using skype or the dialer app. Makes sense because when i press the button in question, nothing happens and there is a little flicker as it the dialer app is reloaded.

Went to dialer app and cleared the default action, but still no joy. Tried to reboot. no change...
 
If you press the dialer app, you get the screen with numbers to type in (phone numbers). At the bottom left is the call button, then to the right is the video call button, then there is the orange icon with the envelope. This si the button that I chose and then got the default action menu. I thought this would stand for voicemail, so i figurd i would want to use the dialer always to call it, not skype. But I guess it does something else?

what does the orange button with the envelope do? Is it for sending text messages?
