Yes, you can. As long as you put the apk in the right folder and change their permissions.

They've almost got google search 4.1 working. Voice search doesn't work but the cards do.

Ok I got YouTube to install. Not sure what's different. Play Music installs if you put it into System/app then reboot. I like the new UI/widget look of Play Music.

Can't get GMail to install. Anything new/different in GMail?

Might just be the updated version where you can save maps for offline use.

you could already do this in the stock rom so i would assume you could do this in any rom as long as your maps app is up to date

Yeah, I was trying them the other day as well. You can get some of the .apks from mobster rom.
