There were some wonky things that was happening to my phone like the "search" soft key randomly going off and I couldn't download apps from the market....so I decided to restart my phone. When I turned it back on, my phone was locked. I'm using i897 on the rogers network and the phone was unlocked when I first got it second-hand.
Can somebody help me? I was on stock 2.1 unrooted when this happened. I tried a downloading a few SGS unlock apps and they dont work. I also tried looking on XDA but I'm looking for a solution that doesn't require root if possible.

EDIT: I fixed the problem! turns out that I just needed to root it...now to figure out how to flash and which rom to flash.
