It is modded with Cyanogen.

Hi Marty,

To take it completely back to stock, unrooted form the best way is to use a RUU (ROM Update Utility). Which one depends on the phone's original branding, e.g. if it was originally a Vodafone handset then you'll want a Vodafone RUU, as others won't work. There are two exceptions to that rule: (1) if you have a Goldcard you can run a different RUU, and (2) there's the official Android 2.3 upgrade, which is an RUU which runs on many different GSM Desire models (including e.g. all UK network handsets).

An RUU will erase the phone, so if you want to keep your data back up first.

Are you S-On or S-Off? If S-On then the RUU will put it completely back to stock. Even with a goldcard I don't think you'll be able to run one with an older hboot, but presumably you will want the most recent RUU anyway. If S-Off with a recent alpharev Hboot you will still be S-Off afterwards. If you don't want that, you should flash the alpharev "downgrader" hboot before running the RUU. Ask again if you need to know more about this.

The most complete set of (GSM) Desire RUUs I know can be found at Shipped ROMs. This includes the 2.3 upgrade (which you can find near the bottom of the list). They are windows executables (the 2.3 upgrade is a zip archive, with the actual RUU inside that, so unzip to get the RUU). To run one, boot the phone into fastboot mode, connect to a PC, and run the RUU on the PC.

Let us know if anything isn't clear - I realise this is a fairly dense infodump! :)

Hi Hadron!

You absolutely rock!!

You just made my spouse extremely happy - she hates me geeking around with her electronic toys.

Once again - Thanks

Cheers
