Restored system apps

As my other question didn't get a reply I'll try rewriting them. After flashing checkrom v6 I used titanium and restored system apps and data. I did a full wipe, installed stock rom, then flashed siyah.

1. Will there be residual files left over from the checkrom install?

2. Will the system apps I restored be running somewhere or will the stock flash clear that?

Oops forgot one.

3. Was flashing stock the correct thing to do, or should I have used my nandroid backup from before my titanium mistake? I seem to have things I don't recognise running, hence the questions

Any chance someone is feeling helpful enough to add me on Skype and give me some advice? I feel bad asking stupid questions. If so my Skype name is my forum name. Thank you

You should never restore system apps and data after updating your firmware, as you will be overwriting the new apps with the old firmware version.

The only use for this backup/restore feature is if you have to re-install the version you are on and have no CWM backup to restore from, so you would then re-flash the original firmware, then restore the apps+data. Even then, you would only need to restore the data.

I would do a full wipe and reinstall CheckROM v6.
I know its stated as a non-wipe rom, but I always wipe when changing ROM/Firmware. Its much safer in the long run. You can however try just installing it directly on top without wiping, its up to you.

So the system apps / older versions I restored will be removed during a full wipe? (i try to full wipe anyway) Or will it still have unneeded things from stock in the background of checkrom due to the mistake? I'm probably over thinking this way too much, my curiosity likes to know what is going on rather than it just working like magic

A full wipe will remove your data/settings/apps etc.
Installing the ROM again will put all the CheckROM v6 apps back on.

when you did a titanium restore of system apps+data after you put CheckROM v6 on, you overwrote CheckROM v6 apps with your previous rom's apps.

So even system apps are stored with the other apps? I was thinking they would be in the system folder somewhere. So if I full wipe and flash a new rom, is the system folder changed?

There are more than just a restore system apps options in titanium backup
you can restore your apps only (user apps). This is all i use it for to be honest, with only a few exceptions

I did know there are other options, just decided wrong on my first flash. I will stick to user apps from now on, restore some data manually. In the process of flashing are any changes made to the system folder?

Ah ok that's good to know. Tempted to change some system fonts and try to add emoji so it is viewable in all apps. Unless there is a rom that supports it
