Root Restoring apps problem

I've restored my apps+data with mybackup pro, to leedroid, but alot of the apps, especially games, either force close or are extremely laggy or reboot my phone. To fix this I've had to clear their data or reinstall them. My question is, is... is this because of the change in data partition to ext4, or is mybackup pro causing the problems? I'd try titanium backup pro, but don't wanna waste $6 in case its not mybackup pro causing the problem.

What I've done when switching ROMS (the 3 times I've done it :p) is use the backup feature with Astro to back up the apps themselves, then used Titanium to backup the data associated with apps individually.

Never used My Backup Pro so can't comment on that, sorry.

I dunno, it shouldn't make a difference that you're restoring to ext4. Unless there is something wrong with your setup.

Which roms were you switching from and to?

Why not just backup it all with titanium?

I wondered if, when restoring apps and data from Titanium, this could have been the cause of my issues when I changed to LeeDroid!?!?

I don't know. I've been transferring the same install of some apps since I first got my phone, between sense and non-sense, and I've never come across any problems because of it (that I'm aware of anyway).

I've never used any of the ext4 stuff on Leedroid's roms though. Maybe that changes things like Marsr suggests.

Fair enough! Good to know!!!

Maybe!

It backs up some of the sense stuff and I thought it would cause problems restoring to a non sense ROM but you've confirmed below it doesn't.

So when you switched from Sense to non Sense, you just did a batch restore of everything?

I emailed rerware, and all they said was that the data wasn't the same version as the apps... except that I hadn't updated any apps when I restored them, so they should have been.

I went from ARHD to Leedroid Xyro.

Yeah, that's right. TB knows the difference between system apps (where all the HTC stuff will be) and user installed apps. I always go to the batch menu and 'Backup all user apps' and then 'Restore missing apps with data'. When you go to do the restore, it should also first give you the option to pick which apps will be restored. That lets you check there's nothing there that shouldn't be.

If you wanted to be doubly sure, you can press menu and then filters and have it only display user apps. That will cause TB to ignore all system apps all the time.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like the right explanation.

Have you tried uninstalling and doing a fresh market install of one of the apps giving you problems. At least then we can be certain the problem was with the backup/restore, not the rom its self.

Yeah, all the problematic apps worked after uninstalling and reinstalling from market. But the day I made this thread, I re-flashed the ROM and manually reinstalled all the apps from the market... didn't take as long as I thought it would. Probably didn't need to go to that extreme, but did anyway just to make sure it was a 'clean' install :P

Thanks, I'll give it a look. I hadn't really tinkered about to be honest, when I noticed the backup option in Astro, I just used that.

I gave it a try and so far I've not run into any FCs after restoring all my apps to Leedroid 3.2.1 with the ext4 formatting addon.

Strange... maybe something went wrong during the backup process. I sometimes do other stuff while the backup is in progress. I'm not sure if I was at this particular situation, but that might have contributed. Good to know it's the the mybackup pro that's faulty.
