Root restoring clockworkmod backup to different hardware

Title says it all. I had to get a new EVO when my last one died. I want to restore my latest backup from the old EVO to my new one now that we can finally root GB. Will this rape my phone?

hmm, alright thanks man. I guess I will just suck it up and reflash CM from scratch. Biggest thing was all of my apps =/ I have no idea why google doesn't just associate ALL of my market apps with my account instead of just the paid ones. That would be way better.

You can use TB to recover your apps, thats safe to do between devices. You just need your SD card from the old device, just don't do any system apps.

yeah, I know about TB, I just don't like it. I don't think it should be necessary. I know google internally keeps track of what I've downloaded from the market, all they have to do is share that information with my phone. Edit> They totally do give you this option. I guess the stock rom, or maybe all Sense roms, are too dense to allow it. All is well now in the land of AOSP.
