Help Restoring my sms is not working

I use an app called Backup Manager and have just restored all my settings.
However the sms's are in the wrong account. It says "Bill" but the texts inside are from "Bob".
Many are mixed up in this way.
I don't know why HTC didn't include a decent backup system grr but does anyone know if there's an easy way to fix this?

Are they backed up via an xml file on the SD Card?

Try one of the other SMS Backup & Restore apps on the market.

No, I don't know what kind of file it is it might be ptr or scr, it's not xml though.

Has it messed up phonebook entries too?

OK I got a much better backup programme now.
I lost all my old sms's but hey ho there was nothing of vital importance.
I suppose the moral of that story is...don't always trust freeware.
