Hi,
I've been wandering through forums but can't find a way to access and copy (or backup) the smss on my galaxy.
1. Kies won't work at all (throws an error right after installation) on windows.
2. Kies will work on Mac but no apparent way to view smss or export them (just the media libraries).
3. Tried several apps, both windows and mac to backup the data. Most of them didn't even launch, one looked like it was doing something for about 12(!) hours but all it did was to create a backup folder which was empty.
3. Then tried to find an emulation app for the screen, but they all need the phone to be in debugging state, which it most likely isn't and since the touch screen is all black, and I'm not a tech-savvy with apts and sdks, I couldn't find my way around.
The phone is no longer in use but I still need some smss from it. Is there ANYTHING simple enough I can do before giving it for repair?
